Jvc gr-d33ek no picture, message tells me to remove lens cap but lens cap is not on

    i also have that problem and the screen is blank when i play back tapes.

Call JVC on 0845 310 800 and they will repair it for free. It is a problem with the CCD on these and many similar cameras. 11 Aug 2009

JVC has received reports that in certain circumstances, the following models may, while in the camera mode, show no picture, a distorted picture and/or display “LENS CAP” even though the lens cap is removed. We have identified the probable cause as a failure of the CCD image sensor. Repairs of units exhibiting these problems as a result of a defect in the CCD image sensor will be made free of charge at a JVC Authorised Service Centre even if the unit is outside warranty.

its a problem with the ccd image sensor, i had exact same problem with mine!! not to worry though JVC offering free repair, must be a big problem.
