Question about Sony VAIO VGN-NR220E/S Notebook PC

Open Question

Recording/sound card? On my old laptop I had downloaded a program that could record streaming audio from the internet into an mp3 file on your computer. I just got this new Sony Vaio VGN-NR, but I am unable to record...whatever program I download, it says it can't detect a device...but there's of course a sound card already installed in the laptop right? otherwise I wouldn't be able to hear sound... I've tried the support and help center on my computer, but I haven't been able to fix this problem...although I have found one lead that could explain the problem. I the hardware and sound section, I found that the playback device is Speaker/HP Realtek High Definition Audio, but there is nothing listed for recording. I think that is the problem...the laptop should be able to record right from the sound coming out of the laptop, right? That's how it worked on my old laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks!

SOURCE: sound doesn't work on Sony Vaio VGN-sz480

Here is the link to that driver file for that sound issue.

http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-download.pl?mdl=VGNSZ480&upd_id=2556&os_id=28

Run the setup and it should install it. Verify it afterwards by going into the device manager and making sure that its there underneath the sound area.

I'm confused. A Codec is used in an audio player like Media Player 11. If your computer has no sound when it comes on then you need a driver. I looked up your model and found a Realtek driver speciafically for your machine. You can download this at: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/swu-list.pl?mdl=VGNS460. If you need an Audio CODEC for your media player I would suggest downloading PowerDVD from download.com to insure that your system sound is working correctly then you can use the Microsoft CODEC installation package to determine the real missing CODEC.

SOURCE: Device can not start code 10

error code 10- either the device is not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed (could also be manufacturer specific error code) right click on the item in the device manager, select properties, drivers and either roll back driver or update driver as, unless you have removed the connector and not reconnected properly, I assume the device is still there.

How to record online music on Toshiba laptop?

You can download mp3 music files from the Internet to your computer and then copy them to your MP3 player using the USB cable. For your CD collection, you need to convert your CDs to mp3 music files onto your computer or download them from the Internet and then copy them to your MP3 player after you have connected the USB cable to the MP3 player and the computer.
You can do this using Windows Media player and Rip the CDs - Media Player will create a MP3 music file for each music track. Click on this link for instruction on converting music files to mp3 file format :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r5798418-creating_transferring_mp3_music_files

If you can play a MP3 music file already, why would you want to record it?
If you want to convert the MP3 file to a WAV file all you need to is use a conversion program.

How to record music on ThinkPad!! Thanks

1) Turn on your mic 2) Start windows sound recorder 3) Start recording 4) Jam out on your instrument(s) 5) Stop recording 6) ... 7) Profit
In truth, this is a terrible device to record music on. You should look into getting a mixer (with as many tracks as you need) and a dedicated computer with a high quality sound card (M-Audio) is a good brand.
If you're thinking about making electronic music, look into FL Studio. http://flstudio.image-line.com/

Cant fand my macrophon an my computer

The internal microphone is located near the top of the notebook LCD display or near the bottom of the LCD display near the hinge. Use the following best practices to capture sound more easily.
Follow the steps below to verify that the recording program on the computer works properly.
  1. Click Start , enter sound in the search field and select Sound Recorder from the list.
  2. Click Record and speak into the microphone. Save the file to an easily-accessible location, such as the desktop.
  3. To play back the recorded sound, open the file using Windows Media Player.
To record sound the internal microphone should be the default recording device.
1. Click Start , enter device into the search field, and then select Device Manager from the list.
2. Expand the Sound, video and game controllers list.
3. Right-click the audio driver , select Uninstall from the drop-down menu, and then click OK to confirm that you want to uninstall the audio driver.
4. After the audio driver is uninstalled, click Start , enter backup into the search field, and then select HP Backup and Recovery Manager from the list.
5. Follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall the audio driver.
The internal microphone is now set as the default recording device.

Audio driver

Not all drivers do come with those as they aren't actually a part of the driver, but are seperate programs (much like the old Windows Sound Recorder and Windows Mixer that were present in earlier versions of Windows (albeit they were very basic)). You can however, get seperate programs to do this for you, Audacity for example (Open Source). http://audacity.sourceforge.net
