Just wanted to note that when it's plugged in I get a loud buzzing/hum-type noise.

  • jhuerena Jul 03, 2008

    NS,

Where are the fuses located? I didn't see them when I took the back off.

  • jhuerena Jul 03, 2008

From the back, hum comes from area to the left of the bulb.

The buszzing you are hearing is coming from the "ballast" portion of the set. This is the part that "fires" the lamp. It is possible that the lamp is faulty and causing this. If you have a spare lamp, try that. It is possible that the ballast is bad. The cheapest way to try and isolate the problem is to replace the lamp with a known good one.

Try that and let me know if that helps. In the meantime, I'll look for other clues for you to look for.

Forgot to add. The set powers down as protection. There are circuits inside that cause this to happen and this is normal when a problem occurs. The idea is to prevent further damage to the set.

Unfortunately this is not a problem that lends itself to remote diagnosis. You may have to get a detailed repair estimate for this one. We can guide you through the actual repair, but without taking some measurements, it is dificult to diagnose.

No HD pic on Samsung HP-R5250

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.
Take it to a repair shop.

My hisense 50 inch lcd tv has picture but no sound.

If you still have back light, then the T-con is probably defective. If you don't have back light, then you either have a bad power board/inverter or a defective panel

After reviewing the service manual for this set, the problem is is in the DIGITAL BOARD. To get the right Digital Board you will need the Version number of the TV.

Good luck

No sound

There are two quick things to try:
1) The TV's speakers may be turned off. To turn on: Press MENU, select "Sound Settings", select "Internal Speakers", then select "On" (as opposed to "Off"), and then EXIT.

2) The Sound source may be set to PIP (picture in picture) instead of Main picture. In that case press MENU, select "Picture", select "PIP", select "Select Sound", then select "Main" (as opposed to "Sub"), as the source of the sound, and then press EXIT.
Whatever PIP is set to may not even be connected to the TV so there would be no sound.

The terms and menus used here are from Samsung so they will be different from yours but the concept is the same.

Good luck,

No controls

this should be easy to fix. The first thing is to check the buttons. Make sure that the buttons ar not pushed in and they work. What I meen is that when you push a button make sure it makes a cliking noise when you push it and releas it. If it dose not that is your problem. If they all work, Unplug the tv for 30 min. then plug it back in. It should work after that. If the remote dose not work after unplugging the set, you may have internal problems
