Question about Akai Televison & Video
Akai are known as "throw away" tv's. Rather then waste your time with costly repairs. You would be much better served purchasing a new unit. I would recommend a name brand like sony, panasonic, hitachi. It will have a brand new factory warranty. Also the money you save on the cheaper tv's is not worth it because this is the end result. I would check out your local circuit city, or best buy. So you can shop around for a comparable unit.

It seems problem is in microprocessor IC ,the function of this IC is controlling the system, that's command the menu on screen, volume indicator on the screen, no channel program on the screen and cannot control the control panel button and to the audio also,.
First to do is to checked the all parts sorrounding or associated to this IC,for leaky or dry capacitor ,change value resistor or open and shorted or open transistor, and checked also the solder joint for crack ,brittle or cold. If all of this are in good condition then i decided that microprocessor IC is depected, change that IC so the performance will be better again..or find a technician to do repair for you in order to avoid high voltage shock....
