Question about Canon MX300 Office All-In-One Printer

1 Answer

Switching between color and black and white

How do you switch from color printing to black and white printing? My canon mx300 seems to only print using the color cartridge. If I take it out, it won't print even though I have a full black and white cartridge. I have an Apple iMac with Leopard. Can't find anything on the iMac that allows me to choose the cartridge. Can't find anything in my Canon instruction manual that discusses this either. I prefer black and white as default as opposed to color. Help me please!

Go here. In the search box in the center of the screen, type "print with black ink only" and click Search. Choose the appropriate link, and you will get instructions for printing from either Windows or Mac.

My printers color ink cartrige has run out. I switched to printing w/ black only, but the printer still displays the alert and will not start printing. The model is a canon mx 300

All the Canon machines are that way, you won't be able to print unless you replace the color cartridge as well. There is not a way even in service mode to bypass this condition, they want you to buy more ink.

I just installed a Canon mx300 on my Mac (runs 10.4.x) and all seemed to go well. I can print but the black letters don't print black (actually, the same happens if I have colored text mixed in). It's...

If the colors in your document don’t look right, you can change whether colors are managed by ColorSync or your printer.
To change color management options for printing:
Open the document you want to print.
Choose File > Print.
If the Print dialog contains only two pop-up menus and some buttons across the bottom, click the disclosure triangle beside the Printer pop-up menu.
Choose Color Matching from the print options pop-up menu.
Select one of the following options:
Select ColorSync if you want the application you’re using to control the color management of the printed output.
Select “In printer” if you want the printer you’re using to control the color management of the printed output.
If you select ColorSync and don’t believe the correct profile is selected for your printer, you may be able to change it. If you see a Profile pop-up menu, choose Other Profiles from the pop-up menu, and select a new one.
I hope this info will help to sort out your problem..Regards

I HAVE MX 300 PRINTER IN WHICH THE COLOUR CARTRIDGE FINSHES OFF QUICKLY THOUGH I DO NOT USE COLOUR PRINTING PLEASE ADVISE

You can goto printer settings and choose black and white printing only, it will be there in one of the options of your printer. If your printer has only one cartage Color, then when you rpint in black and white you are using all 3 colors to create this black and white, nothing much you can do there. But if your printer has two cartages 1 black&white, and 1 color then tell it in settings to print only black and white, hope this helps

How can i print in black and white

There should be an option in the Printer setup. When you print, and the Print dialog comes up, click Properties. Either in the Basic or Advanced tabs you should find an option stating "Monochrome print" instead of "color print". This instructs the printer to only use the black ink cartridge.
