Question about Whirlpool Duet GHW9150P Front Load Washer

Open Question

My Whirlpool Duet GHW9100LQ1 Will not drain during the rinse cycle. The drain pump is making a clicking noise. I have cleaned the lint filter and the lines to the pump. I took the pump apart and it appears there are scratchs where the inpeller is hitting the housing. There is not a great deal of play in the impeller. The pump will drain during the wash cycle but is still clicking. When it gets to the rinse and spin cycle it won't drain at all.

SOURCE: Whirlpool duet Mod GHW9100LQ1 Start button seems

hello,

The lid button or lid switch on your Kenmore washer is what tells your washing machine that it is safe to spin and drain. Your washer will agitate with the lid open, but it won't spin or drain until it senses that the lid is closed. If the lid button is broken, that means your washer won't spin or drain. If your warranty has expired, avoid a costly service visit by fixing the problem yourself.
Difficulty: Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need:

  • Kenmore washing machine
  • Phillips screwdriver
  • Flat knife
  1. 1 Steady the top of your Whirlpool washing machine console by placing one hand in the center. Your washing machine console is the raised area behind the washing machine lid that houses all of the controls. While holding the console steady with one hand, remove the plastic endcaps from each side of the washing machine console with the other hand. The end caps are plastic pieces covering the metal corners of your washing machine's console.
  2. 2 Take out the screws on the left and right sides of the top panel of the washing machine with a Phillips head screwdriver.
  3. 3 Lift the washing machine console forward to release it, and then tilt it up and back. Find the three-plug connecting wire hanging down the back of the washing machine console and carefully unplug it.
  4. 4 Use a flat knife to open the spring clips securing the top panel to the rear washing machine panel on the left and right sides of the rear panel. Insert the tip of the knife and apply pressure to the handle until the clips release.
  5. 5 Lift off the entire washer cabinet so you have access to the faulty washing machine lid button. Your washer cabinet houses your washing machine's basket and motor.
  6. 6 Replace the broken lid button with a new lid button by unscrewing the screws securing the old button with a Phillips screwdriver and using the same screws to secure the new button.
  7. 7 Put your Kenmore washing machine back together in the same order in which you took it apart. Be careful to fit the raised guides located on the sides of the washing machine cabinet frame into their matching slots in the washing machine cabinet sides so that the cabinet and frame are perfectly aligned when you reassemble your machine. The frame holds up the panels on your washing machine cabinet like a skeleton.

Thanks you and thanks for using fixya.

Hi

This issue usually occurs due to kinked drain pipe, clogged drain filter or drain pump. First make sure that the drain is not clogged and remove clogs if present. If no visible lint is present then remove the lower front access panel to check the drain filter and drain pump for any clogs, you'll need to clean the drain filter and drain pump completely. Hope this helps... Please post back for any further assistance.

Our whirlpool sport will not drain, 5d code has appeared. what can we do

SUDS LOCK (OVERDOSE OF DETERGENT DETECTED DURING THE WASH CYCLE)

If suds are detected continuously by the pressure switch during the drain or spin phases, the washer will fill 4 liters of water and during 5 minutes the unit will rest without tumbling, the water will be drained and it will try to spin or drain again.
Possible Causes/Procedure
• If too much detergent was used:
- Run the unit through a RINSE/SPIN cycle.
- Run a NORMAL cycle without adding any detergent,
• This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
1. Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Check wire harness connections to the drain pump, pressure switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check/clean drain pump filter of foreign objects.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Check drain pump.
7. Check the pressure switch.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic Test or any cycle.

Whirlpool error SUB

SUDS LOCK (Overdose of Detergent detected during the Wash Cycle)
The motor control unit senses a suds lock condition by analyzing the current draw on the drive motor. If "Sud" is displayed a potential suds lock is detected. This may signify a bad pump, an extra heavy load, excessive detergent, or excessive suds.
To fix this problem do the following:
  • If too much detergent was used, run the unit through a Rinse/Spin cycle, then a Normal cycle, without adding any detergent. This should clear the unit of the excess detergent.
  • Check the drain hose and make sure it is not plugged or kinked.
  • Check Wire Harness connectors to the Drain Pump, Pressure Switch, and Central Control Unit (CCU)
  • Check/Clean Drain Pump Filter of foreign objects
  • Check Drain Pump
  • Check Pressure Switch
  • Check CCU

I would assume that you are using HE detergent if not the pump could go into a suds lock. You may have a bad drain pump. The other options could be possibly a bad central control unit. (however these are very expensive) or possibly a door lock issue but usually you will get a door lock error.

lon this type of machine there is a lint trap on the lower right of the bottom access panel. It is part of the pump. Disassemble the pump/filter see if anything is caught in it. If there is clean and try again, if problem remains then replace pump/filter combination

Whirlpool duet makes loud noises(Hummm) during spin ( drain) cycle. Any idea what would cause that? Unit seems to function properly. Could it be out of balance?

You will need to clean the catch out that is located in front of the pump. Sounds just like it is full of lint or has something clogging it restricting the water from draining. This is where the humming comes from. If you take the bottom panel off. You can see the catch. Just open and clean out.
