Is the convergence adjustment option still listed on the on screen menu or has it disappeared? Thats a very easy chassis to repair so let me know if the option has disappeared or not and I can asssist you with how to fix it.
You can get replacement screen assemblies for your RCA at the following link. Leave them a email and they will respond quickly. http://servicemanuals.vstore.ca/
Check the capacitors in the audio circuit sounds like one of the capacitors shorted. you should see one thats swelled or its blew out at the bottom. it may be missing entirely in which case you will notice the leads still there with the cap missing.
The power supply section is having trouble.
Common possibilities are:
- Convergences amps are failing, overloading the supply
- High-voltage section (flyback transformer) is failing
(happens sooner or later, about 8 years typical))
- One of a hundred of electrolytic capacitors has failed
short overloading the supply. They dry
out with age, are cheap to replace, but hard to find which one it is.
- Or any of many other possibilities.
In short, you need a experianced tech to troubleshoot this.
whenever fuse blows every time it is the indication of short circuit in tv.
so please do not put fuse unless you know the cause of blowing fuse.
these are the reasons of blowing fuse.
1 main filter cap.short.
2 rectifier diode short.
3 swithing transistor short
4 horizontal output transistor short
5 caps & diodes connected to flyback transformer short.
6 print short.
7 at last if every thing ok then flyback transformer defective.
hope this will help.
if you are not a tech person call skilled tech to fix it.
good luck
It needs a new FLY BACK transformer. That is what you are looking at. The origionals are not made for the set any longer but insist on having a generic on installed by a local TV shop. I just put one into a RCA 31" and it works nice. Don't throw away the TV. Get it fixed. MAKE SURE YOU INSIST THEY USE THE GENERIC ONE! THEY DO WORK!
