Question about PC Desktops

I had a cd blow up inside my lightscribe dvd writer. I was eventually able to open it up and clean out all the broken pieces from the cd but when I reinstalled the disk it will not open when I press the eject button; it just makes a noise as if it is trying to open but can't. Do you have any ideas on how to fix the problem.

To manually open your disk drive, stick a paper clip or push pin in the small hole in front of the DVD Drive - (see picture below)

Will it open if you push the button on the front of dvd writer. you might have to open it up and see if there is nothing wrong. look for broken band or broken gears. if so you may have to buy another one or just open it from the front.

hope this works

Any brand-new CD/DVD reader/writer with LightScribe *WILL* be compatible with your HP.
Check whether your "power" and "data" cables are the "old" style (white power connector and a 80-pin ribbon-cable) or the "new" style (thin SATA cables), before you buy a writer with the "wrong" (PATA versus SATA) interface.

My CD rom and lightscribe dvd writer/cd writer for my HP Pavilion1120n do no work. I have tried the trouble shooting and it says it is corrupted or there is no code 39

If you can still detect the device, you should try reinstalling the driver from your device manager. If still doesnt work , you should try to upgrade the firmware driver using proprietary software included in your dvd writer cd.

Hope this will help you out .. :)

I just bought a HP dvd1170 DVD duplicator and I can't get the LightScribe to work. The Lightscribe Control Panel says no devise is found. Did eveyting I can think of.

Hi, HP use Sonic software to burn CD and work with the CD DVD writer. If burn CD using Sonic soon as the CD burn complete the CD will auto matic will eject just turn the up side down and push it back you can burn the text or image to the CD label. I have 3 HP desktop and that's the way I used to burn CD and Lightscribe labeling.

Lightscribe DVD + Writer/ CD-Writer....it seems to not recognize a DVD-RW or DVD-R blank disk.

These drives are very picky about the CD's and DVD's they accept because the chemicals on the different manufacturers DVD and CD's are all different. What you will have to do is experiment with different brands... for example go buy very few Verbatim DVD's if the brand works for you stick with it. Unfortunately they don't tell the customers about this... but every burner I have... there are some brand CD and DVD that won't be accepted by the drive. For a shortcut by the CD or DVD's that the manual recommends that is most certainly to work and lets you cut to the chase more expendiantly without wasting money. Good Luck

Is it compatable with my desktop pc?

Ok. Well basically CD, DVD and Hard Drives are all cross compatible platforms so you don't have to worry about compatibility issues. If your asking me to choose I would say that you remove the CD writer instead. But before you do this make sure you have enough extra sockets in your motherbaord to plug in your Pioneer DVR-1910LS 20x DVD±RW IDE Drive w/LightScribe if your CD Writer uses IDE interface your inluck coz you can use it in place of the Pioneer DVR-1910LS 20x DVD±RW IDE Drive w/LightScribe, but if it isn't make sure you have a spare IDE socket in your motherboard. Simply remove the side panel use a flashlight and see if there are vacant IDE sockets, it's usually long in black, white or blue color. see the picture below.

If its vacant follow the steps on the link below simply copy and paste the link on you browsers address bar.

I have a HP media centre pc, which has a lightscribe DVD writer/CD writer. It will only run certain cd's, most of the time it will not recognise there is a disc in the drive. The drive will start up,...

unfortunately it's a sure sign your drive is faulty, the noises are the laser trying to read the tracks, cd's can be easier read than dvd's because the tracks are wider apart, whereas dvd's data is packed tighter together and the reading is more difficult for a faulty laser, you will need to replace it or buy an external usb writer.
