It can be a possible hardware issue or a software issue
Try to run the dell diagnostics

If it fails replace the part on which it fails.. If it passes reinstall the OS to fix the issue

Try accessing setup utility and verify there if it still recognizes your hard drive, if not then that means your hard drive had crashed. If you have important files on the drive, you can try to recover it by going to a local service provider and have your files recovered, and of course you have to get a new hard drive for your dell.

Make sure you fixed the HDD properly..In some cases you need to push a little harder. See if any pins had been bent, if so straighten it, without breaking it.
