Question about Toshiba Computers & Internet

I want to run an sd slot WiFi adapter (SPECTEC SDW-820)on a toshiba e750 BT, but when after installation I run that card's WLAN utility it does nothing. Is use of a third party WiFi adapter on this particular BT PDA even possible; if so what can I try next

I have already installed the latest available driver (from SPECTEC) for the sd card

  • mcc2008 Jul 03, 2008

I can't find a 'Run' boxfrom the 'Start' menu

  • mcc2008 Jul 04, 2008

This problem remains unfixed. The sd card seems to be OK (I have been able to successfully install on an hp 22210), but the tosh e750 BT with the same card installed remains mute, despite hard reset and reinstallation of very latest drivers etc. By the way, this PDA doesn't as far as I can see have a user-accessible BIOS, nor a 'run' box accessible from the 'start' menu. And the tosh's file system contains nothing remotely resembling a file or command named 'devmgr.mgnt '. From my success with the h2210, I fully expect that my problem may be very device-dependent. The usual 'PC'-style suggestions ('bios', 'device manager') are of no help here.

The most useful suggestion(s) would be ones based around whatever of this particular PDA's resources are accessible via LapLink Controller for PocketPC 4.12/570.

By the way, to restate part of my original query, has anybody out there even managed successful installation of a WiFI adapter on an e750 BT?

First backup your files then perform a hard reset on your device so everything is restored into factory defaults.

Install the software for the card and connect the wireless card.

First you have to install the driver for the new device once it is installed then you need to reboot the computer then it should recognize as it has a new device.

Then go into the device manager check for the device if its installed correctly and that should not hav any exclamanation point or red X nex to it in the device manager.

    To reach the device manager

type in devmgr.mgnt in the run box after you click on start button.

Hi!!!how much for one wlan card for htc mobile???

Hi. Spectec SDW-821 model is a good WiFi WLAN Card model, and it is $45 on eBay (http://cgi.ebay.com/SPECTEC-SDW-821-WIRELESS-SD-CARD-WIFI-SDIO-802-11G-B_W0QQitemZ130311434316QQcmdZViewItemQQptZPDA_s_Pocket_PC_s?hash=item1e572ab04c&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65:12|66:2|39:1|72:1205|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50). Of course there will be a shipment fee according to your home country. If you are not in US, it is pretty hard to find a dealership of such WLAN Cards since every model of PDA or Smartphone or Cell Phone has a built-in WiFi these days. Hope this helps.

How do I setup my HP iPaq 2210 to access the internet with a WLAN-11b card? What are the steps?

First of all, you should install the driver for your wlan-11b card to your PDA. (There should be a CD given with the wifi card, or you can download in online through the card's brand's website, ex. .cab file for a Spectec SDW821 Wi-Fi Card) At this step, you should be carefull with the version of windows mobile on your device and the driver's version for windows mobile. After that, you should plug your wifi card to your PDA's SD slot, and your PDA will recognize it. So you can go to your settings, and there you can search for a wireless network.

If u use a WLAN access point, you should: 1. configure your wlan router to allow internet 2. choose "WORK" in the network connections configuration dialogs. and maybe you will have to configure the proxy server too.

SYNC for Toshiba E750

I suspect this is a powersaving issue: u need to play with the system power saving configuration dialogs, and turn off WLAN card power saving. maybe you will have to give completely up the power saving - only backlit.

as far as I know the e750 supports the SD-Card I/O standard. You can check your system seettings, go to START - SETTINGS - SYSTEM - SYSTEM INFORMATION - DRIVERS There should be seen the SD/MMC Host driver, the SD/MMC Memory Driver and CF Card driver. Also if the gps card needs a driver, it should be installed also! Perhaps a system reset helps you in the end!

Buy a WLAN sdcard to get WiFi connectivity. You will still have the second minisd slot available for a memory card.
