SanDisk won't accept WORD Files

I have a 2gb SanDisk and it has stopped accepting WORD files although there is 1.67gb of free space. I can still access the files on the drive but cannot add new files. Any ideas why?

Unfortunately, there is not a lock icon on this drive. It is one of the retractable types with no locking mechanism.

It could be write protected. Is there a little switch on it with a padlock icon, try switching it to the other side.

Have you tried it on another computer? It may be faulty. You also just might have to format it and try again.

There isnt really a limit of the number of files, but there is a limit on space.

If you go into "my computer"(windows xp) or "computer" (windows vista/7)
and right click on the icon for your SanDisk. Choose properties, and it should give you a nice pie graph to show your free space.

If there is free space left, then it is safe to say that there is something else going on.

If not, you are out of space!

Cheers!

The properties show that the usb is using 1.5gb of space, but I am unable to view any of the files that are using up that space. Any ideas how I can go about viewing these files?

You could try viewing them from a different computer, possibly one running a different operating system. Are you using the computer that the files originated from?

Deleting files does not free up disk space

Note that "deleted" items move from their location into the "Recycle Bin".

So, "empty" the Recycle Bin, in order to reclaim the space.

Or, when deleting:
1. click ONCE to select a file/folder to be deleted
2. hold the SHIFT key down
3. click the DELETE key
4. release the SHIFT key

This will "permanently" delete the file/folder, immediately freeing-up the disk-space.

SanDisk Cruzer storage

Check the format. Make sure it's compatable with the operating system. Also check the size of your documents folder. If they are compatable, maybe there is something wrong with the flash drive.
