Automatic watches need to be "wound up" initially.

These watches will generally run for 1 or 2 days before they stop - the thrive on being used.

Try holding the watch level and swinging it from side to side for a few minutes to give it sufficient charge to make it start. (Some makers recommend as many as 200-300 oscillations to make it fully wound).

If your watch will not start after the treatment described, it may be faulty and should be returned to the supplier.

Hi, I have a police watch 10962j and I thought the battery had expired due to the hands stopping. It was changed by a local timpsons however the clock does not work but the stopwatch facility does!!..is...

If the stopwatch facility is a digital LCD display, then you probably have a watch with TWO batteries. One for the electronics and one for the analogue hands movement. The Electronics circuit board can be lifted out, revealing the smaller hands battery.

No work quartz

This watch is kinetic, in that a moving rotor inside the watch powers a rechargeable battery that runs the quartz mechanism. You should not need to attempt to open the watch! It may be that the battery is flat (especially if it's not been worn for a while) - you can try swinging the watch back and forth to charge it (check online for charging instructions for Seiko or Pulsar kinetic watches). If that fails, take it to a reputable establishment for repair.

My kenetic battery ( i think) operated watch ,N0, on the back plate-

First, does it say "Kinetic" on the face of the watch? If not, it is not a Seiko Kinetic. (You did not mention if it was a Kinetic or not.)

Second, the Serial number is not like any Seiko Kinetic I know, which is 2 4 digit numbers.

Third: The number you gave itself may indicate the type of button battery you need.

Good luck.

SEIKO KINETIC SQ 50 HAVE USE MY WATCH FOR 14 YRS

It is unlikely that the capacitor will have any charge on it so you should shake it gently to charge it up. You certainly can't do any harm by charging it, even if the capacitor did have any charge.

Seiko 5m43 fails run after cell replacement

Hi, Look on page 11 of your manual for the proper procedure to restart watch after a battery change, or complete discharge of capacitor system. If you don't have the manual, Try this link:
http://www.seikowatches.com/support/ib/index.html

Take the four-digit module number from the back of the watch, enter it, and download a PDF of your watch setting-instructions/manual.
I hope this helps you. Thanks, Bill

My watch runs too fast: adds appr. 1 minute every 24 hours

That is way too fast for a Seiko Kinetic. There is no adjustment to slow it down. With time of course it might run slower as the gears get dirty. Maybe Seiko will replace the movement, worth asking

Seiko Kinetic that doesn't work

This watch does not have a battery, but has a capacitor which is rechargable. It is not taking a charge, and needs to be replaced. You should take it to a store with a watchmaker ON THE PREMISES. Or you could send it to: www.bscwatchrepair.com
