Not seing color is only a matter of PAL & NTSC support by your DVD.

Does it play both original (bought) USA & EU DVDs? Does it play them OK? If yes, there is a color system issue with your DVD - ripping software.
If not (even the bought ones) thens check:

1. Is your TV both PAL & NTSC compatible?
2. Is your DVD player as above?
3. If you are connecting your DVD via another device (a receiver, switcher...) is it supporting both as above?

That's all.

Burning movies on the computer , playback fine on two computeers , will not play on ONN portable player used DVD-R

Burning dvd\'s is always a crapshoot when you have multiple machines. Computer drives are more tolerant on playback - the problem lies with your other, independent playback units. That is why in your main viewing area it is important that you have a few units so that if disk does not play in one machine, it will play on another. Has to do with the individual differences and calibrations of the machines involved. Store bought dvd\'s have less problems because their laser reflectivity is always higher than disks you burn, and therefore, easier to read properly. Price of the unit has no reflection on ability to properly read the disk. Sometimes and often, a cheaper machine will work better with copies - you never know.

I BURNED A DVDRW ON MYCPU BUT IT WONT PLAY IT ON XBOX360 OR DVD PLAYERS

If you are trying to play music, then there could be only two problems.
1. Some DVD-RW can unintentionally trick you into thinking that they can play music, if inserted into the right machine. But really what it might really mean is that it can transport music, not play it.
2. The format of the file that you burned onto the disc may not be compatible with the type of DVD-RW that you have.

If you are trying to put an actually DVD/Movie onto the disc, then it is more than likely a format problem. I imagine that it may be really hard to get a video into the correct format so that it can be played on a DVD-RW.
I assume that whatever you are putting onto the DVD-RW is completely original. If it is not (such as a movie you got offline) then copyright laws will take all happiness out of your life.

Shows unkown disc when i put in a burned dvd-r but it will play a store boughten disc what disc format is compadible with yhis unit

This model DVD player can play the following disc formats:

DVD-Video (Region 1 or relevant region coded store-bought movies)

DVD-R (must be finalised on appropriate recording equipment for compatible playback)

CD-R (for jpeg/mp3 media files)

CD-RW (for audio such as mp3)

music CD (such as store-bought albums)

This player will NOT accept DVD-RW/+RW discs, or Blu-Ray.

I hope this helps you a tiny bit.

I bought my first RTD215 2 years ago but the dvd player got stuckand wont open nor play... I bought another unit same model and after 8 months the same thing happened.. the dvd player got stuck again but...

If you really like the unit (disregarding the DVD player issues), maybe you could buy a GOOD stand-alone DVD or BluRay player and be ready for an upgrade in the electronics when the bug bites.

Try going to the menu, it seem like the dvd is set to another system, eg like pal system which is used on european countries. We use ntsc system in the united states.

How to record a VHS tape to a DVD disc

Read your manual first to make sure the unit will do this.If it does chances are it won't record unless it has a decoder built in.Most VHS tapes have macrovision protection that prevents you from copying them.It will however, record homemade VHS tapes. There are decoders out there you can buy to enable you to copy VHS tapes.

Sp k-970 dvd player will not play. played 1 dvd whenfirst bought now will not play any

1) Reset DVD player by powering unit off and unplugging from wall outlet for 30 seconds, then try again
2) Run a DVD cleaner

Are you getting a "No Disc" Message no matter what disc you use? Are you getting the message no matter what type of disc you use - commercial DVD vs burned DVD? If you are only having problems with burned DVD's, then make sure the discs are finalized.

Is the TV on the right channel?

If all else fails, call the manufacturer.

TV says WRONG DISC TYPE

is the dvd a store bought disc or a burnt dvd? If the disc is a store bought disc I unfortunately can't help you. But if the dvd you are trying to play is burned from dvd burner you are most likely using the wrong type of burnable dvd. There are two types of dvd's you can burn, DVD-R and DVD+R. You need to make sure which one you dvd player can play, some play one or the other, some play both. I have also heard of some older ones that can't play any type of burned disc. Hope that helps Peter
