Question about Panasonic DMR-EZ47V DVD Recorder/VCR

1 Answer

Hello, Dustin / unsupported discs issue

Dustin: My unit is still under warranty - I got for Christmas. The weird thing is that most of the time it works fine - I recorded a show last night OK. A couple months ago it was having trouble reading unfinalized discs. I contacted Panasonic, they sent a disc to "reboot" the player, and then it was fine again.

Both the discs and player were bought in the US. Getting back to my original question, do you think a repaired lens or new unit might read the unsupported discs that were recorded on the unit?

Thanks, Brad

Hi Brad

Before you attempt to purchase a new lens or a new unit, i would suggest that you buy a "Len Cleaner Disc" to clean your lens, if that doesn't help then you should either repair or buy a new lens.

To repair or install a new lens, you will need a service manual(Let me know if you need one.) Then you can do it yourself.

Please also remember that if you attempt to open or repair the player in anyway, it will void your warranty so i think you should take it to Panasonic and have the unit replaced or refunded.

Thank you for using FixYa. Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution as FixYa if it helps you.

My phone is saying unsupported battery on my samsung u460.whats going on.i havent changed a thing

Hello, This is a common issue with the samsung intensity II. I am a verizon agent and we see this alot. Usualy its because the battery has something internally wrong with it that causes the issue. Run by your local verizon store have them try another battery. That should fix it up, problem is the battery is only under warranty for 30 days from purchase where the phone is warranted for 1 year. There are situatons where the phones software is corrupt and thus causes this error as well.. Contact 1800-922-0204 and select tech support. (no is for verizon cust support) if warranty they will overnight you a repalcement phone.
Hope this helps

Unsupported discs

Hi there

I think your DVD Player could have been damaged while it was in storage, this sounds like there is a problem with the lens (laser), i am going to suggest that you take it to a repairman and ask him to fix it or buy a new laser for your DVD Player attempt to fix it yourself.

If your DVD player is still under warranty, you should take it back to the retailer and have it repaired or refunded.

This could also be caused by "un-married" Player and Disc, if you bought the DVD Player in one country and bought the DVD's in a different country, this could also cause the problem. If the DVD's are copied, that could also cause it.

The Wii has audio, but no video. The light on the

The first thing you should do is try different video cables. If this does not fix the problem, try another TV. If neither of these solve the issue then it is a board issue. Contact Nintendo to see if the unit is still under warranty.

If the unit is not under warranty, visit www.wiredextreme.com or call toll free 1-888-389-3038. We are a console repair company based in Texas, and can get your Wii up and running in no time. All of our repairs come with a standard 90 day warranty that covers the entire console, not only our repairs. Extended warranties are also available at additional cost.

My Toshiba portable dvd player says no Valid Disc

If the units under warranty you may want to contact Toshiba as it sounds your unit is in need of a replacement laser assembly.
If the unit isnt under warranty, Toshiba should be able to supply the parts you need and as long as you mark every thing that you remove, as to know where it goes when re-assembling the unit. The lasers arent difficult to replace. Good luck.

The screen of 885 hanging each time I switch it on

If the unit is under warranty send it in. If it is not under warranty you may want to tinker with it yourself. One problem be with the touch screen. I have seen this happen to units that get junk stuck in the corners of the screen. It wont boot or goes into a weird mode. Clear the junk out and the unit can properly boot up. When you dropped the unit it could of pinched the screen. Check for any pinching in the corners or damage to the top layer of the screen.

Does the unit go into mass storage mode when your unit is plugged into your computer? If it does this mean you can be missing some files in the main directory. Sometimes performing a firmware update will replace the missing files. If the unit will not go into mass storage mode you will not be able to perform this task.

The last thing to try is to open it up and see if anyflex cables came loose or if any visible solder connections are broke. Give it a sniff test too. If it smells like burned plastic you may have a issue at the component level.

Hi just bought a new xbox 360 elite for my kids for christmas it has damaged two discs already one was lego batman and the other is forza motorsport I am gutted. This never happened on my playstation

This can be caused by a misaligned drive, the drive in the unit will need to be realigned. Contact Microsoft to see if the unit is still under warranty with this site: http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/LiveIDSignIn.aspx?redirectUrl=http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/registerdevice.aspx?step=repair

If the unit is not under warranty, go to www.wiredextreme.com. We are a console repair company based out of Dallas, Tx. We can realign the drive for you. All our repairs come with a 90 day warranty that covers the whole console, not just what we repair. We also offer extended warranties for up to 4 years, at an additional cost.

On certian games, spiderman 3 , saints row & others, my xbox 360 freezes,I have it well vent.and a laptop cooling fan under it. Any thoughts?

I have an older 360 that was doing the same thing. It was purchased in 2007. We just bought one for our daughter this past Christmas and hers hasn't done it yet. The newer Xbox 360 is a lot louder than my old one. I just sent my old one in to be serviced due to freeze up, false clean disc comments, and a wobbleing/rattleing noise when disc was starting and stopping. If yours is still covered under warranty I would send it back. I purchased the extended warranty, thankfully, for 2 years after the manuf. warranty. I don't know if you can purchase it after you purchase the Xbox 360 or not. You may want to check into it. IT WAS WORTH EVERY PENNY. I got it on both systems, mine and my daughters. The big thing is acting on the problem ASAP after you start noticing it before the warranty runs out!

Disc Drive

Hi,

Like you, have heard of a couple of issues with this particular model as well as some others. Since it is still under warranty, perhaps your best bet is to send it back for replacement. I was also made to understand that since a number of their units have been failing while still under warranty that Acer opened up a page/site specifically to facilitate the return process here. The page has an option for parts only with a number to call (1-254-298-4696). Though this may be your first step, eventually I would suggest that you do send the whole unit if replacing the CD/DVD does not solve your problem. I am tempted to think that it is not the CD/DVD but a motherboard issue.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.
