I just had this same problem and found the solution elsewhere on the net. Apparently the remote is prone to having buttons stick down. "Massage" or rub all of the buttons and one will probably unstick which will allow the remote to begin working normally again. I was a bit skeptical but it actually worked for me. Good luck

Answer Safe Mode is a diagnostic tool in the Remote used for troubleshooting purposes. If the words "Safe Mode" or "Safe Mode Requested" appear on the remote, complete the following steps:
1. Ensure the Remote is in "Safe Mode Requested" by taking out the batteries, and disconnecting the remote from the USB cable.
2. Hold down the Off button and plug the remote into the USB.
3. Continue holding down the Off button for another 10 seconds. The remote should then display the words "Safe Mode Requested".
4. With the unit in "Safe Mode Requested", re-install the firmware by clicking Support on your home page.
5. Click Firmware in the Downloads section and follow the online instructions to upgrade the firmware.
6. Once the firmware upgrade is complete, click Update My Remote.
7. Insert new batteries into the remote.
NOTE: Ensure the new batteries are all the same brand.

best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Can't get anything on my monitor but 'out of frequency range' But I can't get anything on the monitor to be able to get into the computer to reset the frequency. Help

Restart the computer. As soon as the bios start screen displays, start hitting F8, about once a second. You will eventually get the windows start menu. Use "Last known good..." or VGA mode. Last known good should do it. If not, VGA mode will allow you to get into windows and change your resolution settings, then reboot and get back to work.

Logitech Harmony 550 stuck on Safe Mode --Have Changed the batteries and checked that they are in correct--However, unable to access anything with remote including the Help button.

Hi everyone. So I can see that there are a lot of people who are having trouble with their Harmony remotes being stuck in safe mode. Here's how to fix it and get your remote working again:

1. Connect your remote to the computer.

2. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.

3. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware"

4. The remote will go through the firmware update.

5. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote.

Voila! Hope this can help

Safe mode keeps appearing on my desktop

This may sound stupid but your F8 key may be stuck. Has anything been spilled on your keyboard?

Laptop won't boot (display problems)

If the diagnostics displays on the LCD screen but you get no display when Windows starts to load, it sounds like you have a video software driver problem. Try tapping the F8 key when you power on your laptop and boot in Safe mode. If it works in safe mode then you need to check you driver. You can also try connecting the laptop to an eternal monitor and see what happens.

You can only change the device manager settings for you to uninstall any recent hardware or driver.

Right-click My computer > Properties > Hardware > Device Manager

Just one question. Did you install any hardware driver before it happened?

Game Mode

Had the same problem. You have to get a universal remote that matches the tv. Bought it today at Kmart (Walmart has it too). Only set me back $10-11 bucks and most def. worked. Set it to the tv and hit the Input button, GAME mode came right on. Here is what I posted in another forum on here.

I had the same problem until today. I bought the same tv and went to Kmart/Walmart. I bought the RCA Universal remote (RCR412SI). Only set me back $10-11 bucks. Has like 3-4 ways to set the tv, dvd, sat-cable and vcr/aux. Even allows several tvs I believe. Couldn't set it at first, then there was the other method where the remote did the search. Worked! Here is the device, http://www.walmart.com/catalog/detail.gsp?image=http://i.walmartimages.com/i/p/00/07/90/00/33/0007900033211_500X500.jpg&product_id=10740563&iIndex=1&isVariant=false&corpCard=false&type=-9223372036854775808

I hope this helps everyone out. If you have the 6419TC 19" TV, it will work, just make sure you read
the directions and be patient. Will save you money.
