I downloaded the new update. I was playing cod4, then when i was
coming off the PS3, i pressed the PS button which brought to the homepage.
i pressed quit game. The game went off but all i could see was my
background with no icons, it had froze.
i left it for a minute but
nothing happened, so i turned it off at the back.
The next day i turned
my ps3 on and it came up with a message. It said something about the
hard disk, so i clicked ok. Then another message came up saying that it
needs formatting and i would lose all my data. I didn't want to lose it
all so i clicked no. Then i logged on, my theme and background was
still there and i signed in, but there was no saved data.
I tryed call of duty and it said i needed to update so i did, when it got to 100% it came up saying an error occured.

I've got exactly the same problem i'm running 3.10 on my PS3 and have tried restoring the system doing a full format of the drive you name it. nothing works. The update 3.15 downloads fine but it gets to 21% of the install and brings up this 8002F147 error. I can't play any Blue Ray films on it or go on the web as all it wants to do is run this update which it can't. Additionally I also can't turn on via
the PS button. It's a 80GB one that i've just brought off ebay.
Ps. I called Playstation support at the weekend and they advised that I take it around my friends and try running the update which made no differnce which I thought it wouldn't as i've tried it via flash etc which downloads fine it's an install problem......
does this only happen with CoD4? If so you may have a faulty disk. Goto your local blockbuster and rent CoD4 and see if it does the same thing. If it does, you need to RMA your ps3 877-253-SONY and request a RMA.
ts a problem with the latest download update. sorry to say but its a
job for sony as long as its still under warranty. just phone them up
explain the probs your having and they will send you a new (normally
reconditioned) unit out. sony's replacement service is very good.
