Question about Denon Audio & Video Receivers

1 Answer

Hi' I have a Denon 3910 that is connected to an Infocus Projector via HDMI out on the Denon to DVI on the Infocus(One end of the lead is HDMI the other DVI) .problem has always been without the projector being turned on the audio pulses on and off (wants you turn on the projector the pulsing stops)...Easy to get around though, for my CD/SACD/DVD-A playback I turn off the video circiutry with Denons "audio only" switch/settings for pure music playback(I just turn of the video in player which stops the pulsing). The problem has gone one step further as from last night with the video and audio now pulsing together with projector turned on (you can't watch a movie now at all without the pulsing effect).I tried connecting the Denon 3910 to component RGB to the Infocus projector and it works perfect in low Rez(no pulsing),the problem seems to be HDMI only. .. I first had the Denon 3910 back in 2005 connected via DVI out to DVI in on the Infocus and the pulsing problem never arose, untill I upgraded my cable to an expensive HDMI lead with an DVI adaptor one end for the projector..It's a 10 metre lead and takes afair bit of installing so I left it installed.. P.S. I just ran the old DVI lead to test it(Denon to Infocus) and it now pulses with it connected as well. Any advice would be appreciated .

You can try this reset method, if it doesn't work it will probably need service by a professional. Remeber that all setting will be lost, make sure you know them so you can put them back in after you are finished.

At the player stop condition,
press 3 buttons for DVD operation
(“PLAY”,”OPEN/CLOSE”, and “ SKIP”) until
“INITIALIZE” appears and disappears in the display.
(“Initialized” appears and disappears on the TV screen.)
******All user setting will be lost and its factory setting will be
restored when this initialization is made. Be sure to memorize
your setting for restoring again after the initialization

Denon 1312 receiver composite video inputs do not work.

I'm having the same problem with my Wii output. The manual for the Denon AVR-1312 says that analog video signals (i.e. component/composite outputs from the Wii) are not converted to digital video signals (i.e. HDMI output from the rcvr). I'm running only HDMI to a projector, so the video signal is essentially lost. The fix appears to be to run an additional composite cable all the way to the projector. Sounds like your fix is the same. No Wii tonight! :(

No picture with cable to denon AVR-589

Long and painful answer!!! However, in the end, you need to bypass HDMI thru your receiver and go direct to the TV. Connect Digital Coaxial or Optical for audio to your receiver. Your version of HDMI in your receiver is not compatable with today's HDMI version. Yours is 1.1a and the current version is 1.3b going to 1.4. If you want detailed info as to "why", just google "HDMI 1.1 problems" you can read for hours! Sorry for the bad news! However, it is what it is. Hope this helps. If you need further help with setup, post a comment and I can give you further help.

Digital projector is shutting down as soon as dvd

Hi make sure that in the projector menu it doesn't have an option to cancel "control" as many tv's with hdmi have the capability to receive command signals through the hdmi cable.

Also make sure that your receiver is set for hdmi signal you must designate which input you are using on the receiver and then tell it what type of signal you want it to use.

you may have just pushed a button that changed these settings somewhere along the way.

hope that helps

Just connected sky via hdmi through denon 3310 and no sound is coming through the tv. Also do i need to have amp on to view sky via hdmi?

ensure that HDMI is selected in your sky settings.

you would not need an amp at all just to view sky, only if you were routing sound to say a surround system.

Are you only getting no sound from the tv? or are you getting sound via the amp but not from the tv?

Theres a problem with these models on their HDMI board. Take for warranty repair. I work at Scan Audio (authorized for Denon repairs) and I've seen many of these come in for repair. www.ScanAudioUSA.com for more info shoot us email.

Yamaha reciever doesnt recognise hdmi from Mac laptop

Max does recognize receiver over HDMI-CEC.
The problem is that DVI output is for video only. Macbook won't (and can't) output audio via DVI. So yamaha receives only video signal via the HDMI connector. You can check that by pressing Option button on yamaha remote and choosing Signal Info - you will see info about video, but no audio signal present.

Connection problem with HDMI cables on Denon AVR-589

Hello,
I want to clairify you install, you sat you have I an HDMI cable running from the Time Warner Cable box to the AVR-589, going in to the TV/CBL input. From the Denon AVR-589, I have an HDMI cable running from the output to my Toshiba RV525U television.

Check the connection at the TV, if as you indicated above you have an HDMI cable from the HDMI out from the Denon to an HDMI output on the TV, if this is the case you need to have that HDMI cable plugged into an input on the TV not an output

Video performance question

The 2801 (I used to have a 2803) is just an AV receiver, so it doesn't do any video processing.

If you get a DVD player with HDMI or DVI output, you'll be better off doing what you said - bypass the receiver for video and connecting the video directly to your TV, and the audio to your receiver.

It makes things less convenient since you can't switch inputs only with the receiver's remote, but you'll get a much better picture.

If you really need to control the whole system with a single remote, consider getting a Logitech Harmony remote or something similar. They're very convenient.
