Question about Palm TX Handheld

4 Answers

I have a Palm TX. 3Years old. 6 Months ago had to calibrate Touchscreen every day. 2 months ago had to calibrate touch screen 2/3 times a day. Recently can't calibrate touch screen. Targets go into loop sequence or target won't react. Palm recommended Hard Reset. Did that. PDA freezes or target won't react or goes into loop. Any suggestions

I have had the same issue with the Palm Tungsten 2. The dreaded Calibration Loop of Death. I beleive it to be the Palms "Achilles Heel" What happens it the Calibration goes off, you fix it. Then fix it, then eventually the dreaded loop happens. I was advised to do a Hard restart....dun-dun-dunnnn....oh oh Frozen. Sent out to techs for Geek Squad..(bunch-a-xxxxx) they could not fix, nor had the parts. I believe that the digitizer actually goes from bad to worse...jjmcgaffey has hit it right on the money. There is a tech page dedicated to this very subject...its a well known cause..i am out a PDA and was looking for a new one. Sad to hear that Palms TX does it as well...hmm shcucks. Have a great day

Same happened to my 3 month old TX. I just recharged it, and all was OK! Sounds strange at first, but in my hometown, it is very humid, so maybe it got some moist inside and that caused some variations in the power or battery or voltage... dunno, maybe you need some cleaning, or try to calibrate while plugged.

Hope to be useful!

I've had two TXs with serious calibration drift - both of them got to the point where I couldn't get past the target (calibration) screen. I've gotten one fixed - new digitizer from usedpdaparts.com (and had them do the work as well). My mom also went to them. It's the only solution I know of (and a lot cheaper than a new TX!).

The only other option is to backup the palm, delete all program files, reinstall the software from CD. Calibrate the screen.

Do you have the touchscreen protectors on you screen?

Hi,
I,d suggest that you may have a sticking Button/Switch.
It appears that, another command is being constantly requested by the PDA. first check the battery regarding the amount of charge being held, and for how long. replace battery if discharging.
then i,d suggest having the PDA Serviced, constant usage of these with sweat/food particles/general dust. can cause a button to stick/jam. for example the power on/off or volume up/down button (s) may be making a constant contact, rather than make/break.

The status bar on my Palm TX no longer is functional with the stylus. I have tried realigning the screen with the Pref/Touchscreen app; doing soft resets; and doing hard resets. I have, also, removed the...

Hello, I had the same problem for 10 long months until today, I needed my palm for a specific work I can only do with my T|X, and I resumed my research for a solution for this issue, and I found an app called PowerDigi, after I installed it (480 resolution version) and executed it in my T|X, (it has a 70 target points calibration mode so it's far more accurate than the default software that comes with the T|X) I reallized the problem was gone!! You should try this too, maybe it's the same problem of extreme discalibration that my T|X had until today. This is the link:

I hope it could be usefull for you too.

Try PowerDiGi on http://www.palmpowerups.com/news.php. I've just found this site and successfully used the SDHC driver, but make sure you follow the instructions to the letter, particularly the creating your palmpowerups user account before ordering.

Palm TX power button and touchscreen

We have three TX's in our family with non-working power buttons. I downloaded the program Au Dodo http://www.freewarepalm.com/utilities/audodo.shtml and simply now use the far left button (button 1) as my 'power' button. It works wonderfully.

I haven't found out how to fix the calibration problem, but power on/off has been totally fixed. Good luck for you.

Touch Screen does not work at all

My touchscreen was acting batty, not responding where I was touching. The solution for me was to:
1. remove my screen protector
2. Take a piece of paper, fold it in half, and scoop under the lip the case where it holds the touchscreen in to fish out debris that were distorting how the digitizer recorded.

Touchscreen no longer works

Well watch this video and after you follow the directions get the screen and find the glass like cover and remove it from the screen bend it in a very lightly way, then put it back on and put the PDA back together and BAM.

Touch screen not responding

I have a tx and have heard of this problem happening. Try hotsyncing to make a backup, then copy your folder so you backup is in a safe place. Then do a hard reset to put it back to factory default. Charge it fully and then run the digitizer again. The reason I suggest these steps is sometimes bad applications can muck with the screen sensitivity. If that doesn't work it may be a hardware problem. Hope it's still under warranty.
