My Son has a leap (by 2 users)

My Son has a leap pad plus writing and it seems there is a problem with the pen, as it is not recognising pages or instructions when you touch something on the page. It just keeps repeating itself about pressing the green go button. Do you have any ideas

I am having the same problem with my daughter's MY FIRST LEAP PAD: the pen just doesn't seem to be working. Help!
