Question about HP PSC 2355 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Horizontal bands across image

The cartridges are relatively new, about 3 quarters full. Strong bands are being printed across the page, close and regularly spaced. Makes the picture look as though it's printed on cloth.

    In the end I bought a new black cartridge, and will return the faulty one to HP under its limited warranty, to see what they do. Appreciate your advice.

Here's some possible problems and you may simply have to eliminate these areas to try and find out just what is causing your printers problem: a wrong cartridge; a bad cartridge; an expired cartridge [check the age date on the cartridge or the box it came in]; possible dirty electrical contacts for the ink cartridge causing problems; sometimes even that the pull tape was not removed correctly; possible dirty Encoder Strip/Sensor Strip; possible DIRTY and or DRY Carriage Assembly causing problems [usually not simply no ink printing at all], or even corrupted Printer Drivers causing problems [download new drivers from HP.COM]...First simply try cleaning the electrical contacts carefully and gently, with Distilled Water on Q-Tips or on a lint free rag. Its more likely that the electrical contacts on the ink cartridge, or inside the Print Cartridge Holder Assembly, may simply be dirty. With your printer turned on as normal, simply open the Top Cover and the Print Cartridge Holder Assembly will move over to around the center position. With the print cartridge holder assembly in the approximate center position, simply unplug the power cord from the back or side of the printer. That holder assy will now easily slide back and forth by hand and you can easily remove the cartridges for cleaning. Using damp Q-tips [not wet or dripping], gently and carefully wipe off the copper colored electrical plates on the cartridges and the electrical contacts inside the holder assy. Its best to use "Distilled Water", because it has less chemicals and minerals in it, than tap water and regular tap water can actually cause additional problems. Use new dry Q-Tips to dry off all the electrical contacts after cleaning...The only way to really eliminate a possible bad cartridge [even if it happens to be a new cartridge], is to actually replace it, or test it in another printer that uses the same cartridge and was working ok with its own cartridges installed. Unfortunatly, that is usually not practical, unless you know someone that has the same printer or uses the same cartridge in their printer..

Hi,

It would seem that the printer heads need cleaning.Pls go to the "Printers & Faxes" and right click on "HP Deskjet D2300 series", select and click on "Properties". Pls click on the "Printing Preferences" button, click on "Printer Services" button. On your version, pls see if there is a maintenance or utility tab/button and check for head cleaning. Additionally, pls verify that the printer is not set to "Fast/Economical Printing" in the printer's "Printing Shortcuts" tab.

Incidentally, there are Printhead Cleaning Cartridges specifically fr the purpose of cleaning print heads.
Other things you can try:
1.You might try blotting the color cartridge on a damp tissue, or perhaps after soaking the printhead for a few minutes in a saucer of hot water.;
2. try replacing your ink cartridges;

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

If horizontal bands appear at regular intervals ensure the Autowipe function is turned off. Also ensure Preheat values are returned to default (Init Settings selected will return all user settings to default). Perform a test print from multiple applications to verify problem is not application or RIP specific.

    Also rotate
    image 90 degrees in application and ensure blur filters are not
    used, resend file to printer. Perform a test print from multiple
    applications to verify problem is not application or RIP specific.
    Do not use printers internal test print to verify banding problems
    as this is vector data which may exhibit normal vector dithering
    patterns. Replace all cartridges of affected color to isolate problem.

Plz check in the printing properties you are using the correct paper.
you can also try by printing in draft mode, if the problem is not solved then you can try by changing the paper.
If every thing fails then try by reloading the printer drivers and clean the cartridge contact point with the printer.
Still problem is not solved then try with another cartridge

Canon MP980 prints horizontal pink lines across

try to change the color ink. horizontal banding (the pink or other color lines appearing means horizontal banding) when there is a problem on one of the heating element of the printer head. since almost all canon printers have head built in the inks, replacing the faulty ink will solve the problem. if not then the controller of printhead on the carriage and mainboard needs to be checked.

White line across printed page

Hi Alms, Is there any chance you can post a scan of one of your faulty pages. This would help to assess the fault. If you print several pages, does the image move further and further down the page with each copy? Is the white band repeated down the page? If so measure the distance between each band - this will help identify the faulty component.
