Ipod nano to Mac

I just got an ipod and it says I need to have at least a system 10.4.8 for my mac, I only have 10.3.9 and so my ipod won't work. How do I upgrade my mac or in other ways get my ipod to connect to the computer?

Hey ninibini,

The primary difference between Mac operating system (O/S) version 10.4.8 (Tiger) and 10.3.9 (Panther) is that they are different "reference releases," more commonly called "upgrades." Because upgrades are viewed as major changes in how any software program looks and functions, they are often sold independently in shrink-wrapped packages through local retailers. Updates however, generally only provide fixes to minor problems or cosmetic appearances. This unfortunately means that using the automatic O/S update feature available online will not update your O/S to 10.4.8, and that you may need to purchase the latest O/S available in order to connect your iPod to this computer.

For more information, I would strongly suggest checking out the following articles available through Apple's online support database:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1338?viewlocale=en_US
&
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1444?viewlocale=en_US

Hope this helps you out.

Sincerely,
Aaron

How to Unlock an iPod Nano Code
With the latest iPod Nano model, you can set a four-digit code and lock all intruders from accessing your iPod. In order to use the device's functions again, you need to enter the correct code. However, if you happen to lose or forget the code, you will need to find another way to unlock your iPod Nano.
Things You'll Need:
iPod Nano Mac or PC computer iPod USB cable
1 Plug the iPod USB cable into the bottom of your iPod Nano. Plug the other end of the USB cable into a free USB port on your Mac or PC computer. Open the iTunes program by using the Dock on a Mac or the Start menu on a PC.
2 Select your iPod Nano from the "Devices" list in the main iTunes window. Click on the "Sync" button to make a connection between your computer and your iPod Nano.
3 Click on the "Eject" symbol once the syncing process is complete. Remove your iPod Nano from the USB cable. The iPod's lock code will now be reset and you will be able to access all features again.
4 Navigate to the "Screen Lock" option in the iPod menu to lock your iPod's screen again. Since your iPod's lock code was just reset, you will be prompted to select a new four-digit code.

Can not restore ipod nano because it says it is busy. Have tried all the suggestions on the websites and chat rooms. Have old ipod nano and mac book with snow leapord

Unfortunately the Ipod may be beyond repair. Ipods are only built to last 3-5 years, and after said amount of time, they start to lose their ability to work. Your best bet is probably bringing it to an apple store, if they cant/wont fix it, then minimally you will get 10% off of the purchase of a new ipod.

How do i transfer my ipod music to my mac ?

font.f1 {font: 12.0px Helvetica} Thanks for asking your question with Fixya Support. I will be glad to assist you.

To transfer music from your iPod Nano, you need to first have iTunes installed on your Mac.

Then you need to have music in your iTunes library, whether you are importing the music from your favorite CDs into iTunes, or if you are purchasing music directly from the Apple iTunes Music store, it has to be in the iTunes library.

Once you have your desired music in your iTunes library, follow this link below, which will guide you into transferring music into your iPod.

I hope this helps.

You may try this ipod transfer, it can help you copy songs, videos, movie, photos, playlists, podcasts from iPod to computer iTunes. It supports all series of iPod including iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPod Classic, iPod Shuffle, even the iPhone. it's safe and works pretty well for me. Moreover, it will keep the songs play information - rating, playcount, name, artist, playlist, etc. No other iPod transfer can do that

How do i get movies from a dvd to my ipod nano

You need an iPod converter software. These are available throughout the web. I would check out DVD FAB. You can try the Beta version 8QT for free for one month. The software is very straight forward. It has multiple formats for multiple devices. Check it out for free and then decide if you want to use it. Or download the beta version for a month and compress as many movies as you can in thirty days. hope this helps

ITunes won't reconize my iPod

You may have a non-Apple product. There are lots of knockoffs of the Nano. Here is a link to check: http://reviews.ebay.com/FAKE-Apple-iPod-Nano-and-iPod-Shuffle-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000001518511

Cannot get Ipod Nano to appear in the source panel

The newer iPod nano requires iTunes 7 or later, which unfortunately requires Mac OS X 10.3.9 or later. You must upgrade your operating system to install iTunes so you can use your iPod with it.
