That is telling me that your Qwest DSL modem is not in bridge mode, and is using the same IP address.

What model number is your Qwest DSL modem - it setup features are listed on :
http://www.qwest.com/internethelp/modems/

1. Change to bridge mode
a. If that model does not have it listed to change to bridge, make sure DHCP is turned off on the Qwest modem so the new d-link router can be seen.

If not sure, ask your Qwest ISP for help, it is there modem and they will be able to walk you through putting it in bridge mode.

It is common to have this as the default IP to connect to equipment.

I suggest you unplug your modem while you set up your router. You can also change the default IP for the router while in the settings. be sure to remember the new IP or you will have to do a factory reset to get it back to default

Cant set security

Hi,

According to you security settings of your modem is difficult for you.

But you don't have say the OS you are using there. It depend on modem and OS. while installing the driver supported your OS select the PPPoa/PPPoE. After installing go to the web explorer and type the link (IP add) of your modem at the address bar and enter in the modem settings. Your modem vendor will provide this IP or see the manual.

Then go to the security settings and set it pasword protected. Enable the NAT (Network Address Translation)with your Private IP address for security. You can follow the manual to set it properly

How can I secure my wireless internet?

launch a suitable web browser and direct it to the IP address of the
Router. Type in http:// followed by the default IP address, 192.168.1.1 in the address bar of the browser. The
URL in the address bar should read: http://192.168.1.1
hit enter. Use the default user name: admin and password: admin
Then login, this will bring up your dlink settings page.
Click "setup" at the top of the page then "wireless" on the left. For the security option on the page choose "WPA" then underneath choose PSK string. Leave everything else as default. You will see beside the option String: and a box to type in. This is your wireless password. create a password of your choice and click apply at the bottom. Your wireless network is now secured with that password. you will be prompted for it when you next connect wirelessly.

I am trying to configure my netgear router to work with my dsl motorola modem

You can access your wireless router by first running you ethernet cable from pc to wireless, then in address bar, type 192.168.1.1 and this will enter the wireless router's software. If it asks for username and password, try typing admin for both.

Just changed my dsl and I have a router too.

you'll need to use your web browser to access and configure the modem, like this:
1) connect your computer ethernet to the running modem, wait about 1 minute..
2) click start, run, type cmd in the run dialog, click ok
3) in the command window type ipconfig then enter. write down the gateway address, probably 192.168.0.1 or something similar
4)open your browser, wait for the error, then type that address into your address bar. that should get you into the modem where you can do it's setup.

Can't connect to 10.0.0.2

Googling that address will get you nothing. There are specific blocks of IP addresses that are not used on the internet. Instead, they are reserved for use in private networks. The addresses in these ranges are not available for use on the internet:

Class A networks: 10.0.0.0 - 10.255.255.255
Class B networks: 172.16.0.0 - 172.31.255.255
Class C networks: 192.168.0.0 - 192.168.255.255

What they are telling you to connect to is your DSL router which must be using the 10.0.0.2 address for it's own web-based configuration tool. If you open up your web browser and type http://10.0.0.2 into the address bar and hit enter, it should bring you to their configuration utility that is built into the router.

Belkin DI-604 router connection problem

Change the router's IP address to 192.168.10.1, The Qwest modem like Action Tech have the same IP address with the router.

To change the router's IP address you might needing to access the configuration page of the router, then proceed to the LAN settings.

We recently got high speed internet from Qwest. It will not work. It keeps saying that the can't "ping" it. All light are green; power DSL, and the Ethernet. The internet is not. I have...

The DSL router/modem will receive an address from your ISP (Qwest) and will assign an address to the connected PC.

There should be a cable that goes from your DSL modem to your PC. It'll either be a USB cable (flat rectangular plug on the PC end), or a RJ45 (looks like a wider telephone plug).

If there is neither connection between the DSL modem and your PC, then the PC can't "talk" to the DSL modem, so it's not getting an address from the DSL modem.

No access to set up modem or router

you might have configured your lan settings wrongly.

If your modem was setup for DHCP then you configure your lan to receive IP address automatically, DNS automatically.

If DHCP is disabled on the modem, you have to USE static IP Address for your lan ip and default gateway should be your modem default ip.

the default IP for modem is usually 192.168.1.1
if DHCP is disabled on the modem the sys ip is 192.168.1.3

So Configure your LAN setting as follow and Type http://192.168.1.1 in the address url.

Lan Settings:
IP Address: 192.168.1.3
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.1.1

click ok.
and type the above url, press enter the modem will ask you for username and password.

Good Luck.
