Question about SkyGolf SkyCaddie SG4 GPS Receiver

Sg4 problem my sg4 hasn't been able to direct connect for about 5 months

    Same symptoms as described above: cannot direct connect; tried another friend's cable (that didn't work either); tried multiple USB ports where other peripherals do work; tried another computer; uninstalled/reinstalled software & drivers; updated all IE patches. Agree that customer support is consistently worthless. Spoke to three different agents on different occassions. I was told to expect an e-mail with instructions on how to return unit for repair. Didn't receive that either.

    Someone out there HAS to know what's causing this and how to fix it. Come on guys!!!

    I am having the same connect problem. I've completed all of the suggestions that were recommended, but still nothing. I've reloaded all drivers, reset the GPS and run diagnostics on the USB to ensure I was getting the connection to the PC. What else can I do????

    I am having the same problem with the SkyCaddie SG4 GPS receiver. My PC will not recognize it. I've completed all of the recommendations provided, but it still won't reconginze it. I've reset the GPS, I've run the diagnostic on the USB and it shows "connected", and I've reloaded all of the drivers. What else can I do other than sending it back to the MFG for repair?????

    I have a garmin street pilotIII, my laptop will reconginize the connection but the desktop will not...both use vista..I have loaded the disk many times....is it the settings on the computer?

    Cannot Direct Connect my SkyCaddy SG4. Looks like this is a problem for many. Is it the new software Caddysync? I don't see a driver in the modem file for SkyCaddy so don't know if it needs updating or not? I hope someone has an answer.

    I have the same problem. I tried the website's troubleshooting steps quoted as one of the solutions here. Except when I look for SkyCaddie with a little yellow exclamation point, it's not under MODEM, it's under OTHER DEVICES. When I right click to update drivers, instead of being in PROGRAM FILES, the drivers are in PROGRAM FILES (X86). When I click "Next" I get the error message that Windows could not find driver software for my device........

    I've loaded and downloaded and reloaded the driver software a dozen times. Someone HAS to know how to fix this. I'm on a Dell laptop, using Windows Vista Home Premium.....thanks if anyone can help. This seems common enough that they would have a solution on their website.....????

    Also.....when I ask the computer to search for the driver software it finds something, begins loading and then comes back with the message that,

    "Windows found driver software for your device but encountered an error while attempting to install it.

    SkyCaddie

    The required line was not found in the INF."

    Same problem. When I go to the control panel and try to update the driver, I get the message that the driver was not updated because the wizard cannot find the necessary hardware.

    made the mistake to upgrade my SG4. went through the process suggested and now the thing is locked in "update program, vver.00.12 (B) ready to begin. can't do a thing with it, can't get through to skygolf support. might as well throw the damn thing away at this stage. Hope someone can help. Only had the expensive thing since last september.

This may sound crazy but I had the cable connected incorrectly (I was getting a message that my Sky Caddie SG4 was unrecognized). When connected the cable correctly (to the back of the SG4) the cable wire should be pointing down.

Thats all it took to fix this issue for me.

Need more information. WIth an SG4, there could be several issues causing this, all simple to solve however. Is the computer(s) recognizing the device? Is the USB cable plugged in correctly and securely to the back of the device? Are the latest drivers for the SG4 installed on the computer?

    Could be that you all simply need to update the driver for the SG4. Anytime the driver needs updating and it has not been performed, you can and will get this message. Plug in the SG4 and turn it on as usual. Be sure your connections from the skycaddie to the computer are clean/flush and the cable is going DOWNWARD, not facing up then down. The screen should read connect to skygolf.com. Close ALL applications open on the computer, don't shut the computer down! Just close all apps and leave the Skycaddie plugged in. Go to the CONTROL PANEL, find and select the SYSTEM icon, find and select the HARDWARE tab and select the DEVICE MANAGER button. Under the device manager you have many categories. Find the MODEM(S) category and select it. If you see SkyCaddie there with a yellow exclamation point or question mark to the left of it, right click on skycaddie and completely update the driver. (These are instructions for Windows XP users. If you are using Windows Vista, be sure it is 32bit only. The instructions will still however be similar). Launch the SkyCaddie desktop software and your skycaddie should connect.

I encountered same problem with my SG4, loaded and reloaded the update and my laptop could not recognize the device.

SIMPLE, SIMPLE fix that WORKED go to www.skygolf .com hit the download button, next on the right side of the screen check ALL, ALL, yes ALL of the devices listed and then run the update.

Miracle of miracles, my laptop now recognizes my SG4 again.

Like cabbage321, I've been able to direct connect for about 6 months and I've tried everything:
Changed USB ports.
Turned off all firewalls.
Double & Triple checked my connections.
Disconnected all other USB devices.
Tried it on other PC's.
Bought a new cable.

Same error message everytime...'Your SkyCaddie could not be found. Please check your connections and try again.'

BTW, their Customer Service Team is worthless. I have never recieved an electronic response and usually get a 2-3 hour waiting time to talk to a live person.

Where can I download the skycaddie installation program for my mac?


I've located the download page for the CaddieSync desktop application for your SkyCaddie SG4 GPS. Simply visit this link: http://www.skygolf.com/skygolf/Membership/Owners.aspx and you should find the download. You'll need to select the Mac option and then choose SG4 for the model. Remember: don't connect your device to the computer until after you have the software installed.

SG4 will not screw into adapter


sir some screws will not adjust to all the adapters....... knidly check your adapter and screw...........check whether they are of same type and then try connecting

Locked on Update screen...will not function at all


Contacted SkyGolf directly and they were very helpful. It was a simple software reset accomplished in two steps:

On the TOOLS pulldown menu, select RELOAD, then select RELOAD LAST APPLICATION, which in my case was the latest firmware update (ver 2.2). They (SkyGolf Tech Support) also accesses your computer remotely via a HS Internet Connection and can do the entire process for you.

It then reset the last update program, which had stalled (causing the lock-up) and then all I had to do was reinstall the latest update, disconnect the Skycaddie and do a GPS RESET outside where it can capture the satellites, then do another SYNC to get it back where it was before the problem began.

I was very thankful that it did not require sending the unit in for repair or replacement.

Additionally, the newest firmware update adds SCORING capabilities to the SG4, which I think is cool.

SkyCaddie SG4 Direct Connect Problem


Turn your power cable/connection cable over. You are connecting it wrong. When connecting it to the back of the SkyCaddie, make sure the cord it going down towards the battery, not up. That will fix your issue.
