Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

I had Rome Total War game installed on my pc and played it a lot for a year or so and then deleted it to free up more space. I tried to re-install it again this past week and when I would get to the 3rd. CD, it would freeze and post the message "failed to initialize 3D Audio. That is as far as we can get. We have audio on all the other games. Do you have any idea what is going on with this one? A response would be appreciated.

The third cd could be too scratched up. It's been a year and the damage must have taken toll on it. Get a replacement, from where I'm from it's pretty easy to get a copy.

Win XP is not powerful enough for games due to the lack of the amount of memory that can be installed.I guess you had the 32bit version and that is the main problems running apps or games with not enough memory..

open your "my computer", click on "my document", remove some un-used files. if you have a download directory, go there, and also remove some old files. this will release some space, then you can re-install it. you can also delete all the internet explorer cache files to release more space.

My comp. slows way down when I play facebood helps if I defragment but starts again as soon as I play

Try updating Flash. Most games on facebook have had improvements made but they require the newer version of Flash to work well. Another solution would be to upgrade your RAM memory and to ensure that all automatic updates are turned off when playing. One last thing to consider is facebook itself has recently had many problems with their games crashing and regardless of what computer you use, you'll have issues.

I have games downloaded on my pc that I got from free game sites. They are legal games that are free because they are sponsored. I would like to take them off of my hard drive and put them on cds to free...

Only if they are designed to be run from CD. Most games are "installed" onto your hard drive and put files all over the drive, not just in their game folder. So copying them from their game folder to a CD may lose support files needed to play. Easiest way to try this out...copy the files to the CD, then delete the files from the hard drive. Then try to play the game. If it won't play, copy the files back to where they were on the hard drive.

System slower since installing Windows 2003 and prevent popups

Could you run anti virus to your system, anti malware. Avira free and Malwarebytes antimalware. This is for popups. Could be you are caught unaware this maybe a virus problem.

Also add additional ram if you can make total at least 1gb. You can try also using ccleaner to delete log histories. Just don't touch the registry features if you are not familiar with.

Over all this could give you some speed enhancement.

Just for an input to consider.
