Westinghouse L2410NM monitor dead

My Westinghouse L2410NM computer monitor is dead (no "power on" LED even). There are no blown capacitors in the power supply. Warranty return is not an option. Thanks in advance!

It turned out to be a metal washer between the power supply board and the mount. I bought a monitor with a broken screen and swapped out all other electronics. It did not have the washer. I put in the old power supply WITHOUT the metal washer and it worked!!!

What about the fuse? Sometimes there is a fuse on the circuit board.

Hey I have the same problem and was wondering what you meant by metal washers? Like the metal coverings on the PSU?

Check different power cable
check different power socket
if both have no effect buy a new monitor is the only other option.

SOURCE: dead scepter x22 monitor

Had a Sceptre DCL9A model for mine. There are plastic snaps which hold the back and front covers together. After I took off the screws and detach the monitor stand, I slid a very small flat head screw driver along the sides until I found each snap. They should come loose easily with a slight twist of the screwdriver. There are about 5 on each side of the monitor (not counting the monitor). Do not try to force it as you can warp or crack the plastic.

SOURCE: Turn on the monitor the screen says "out of range" in a small window and turns off

Although this message usually indicates your computer is outputting too much resolution for the monitor, I've noticed that this monitor also rejects 800x600 at a low refresh rate. Using a different monitor, set the computer to output 1280x1024 or 1024x768 at 60 Hz refresh rate, then connect the DCL9A.

you need to check if your capacitors are blown, if they are, you can replace them...it's a very economical way of fixing it. This is a common problem of Sceptre x22wg-gamer.

Unable to get a picture on the monitor even though it is on

Check the caps in the power supply/inverter board for leaking/bulging tops and bottom seals, if you have white screen , then it may have blown fuse on the T-CON board.

I have a flat panel lcd 19, it doesn't power on

Don't know what model you have, but I would check the fuse first. It should be marked with a Fxxx where xxx are numbers. Sometimes the fuses are glass, others times they look like little surface mount chip types. If you find that a fuse is blown, does not mean that just replacing it will solve the problem, you need to figure why the fuse has blown, typically the FETs short out. Hope this helps.

Does not power up freind thinks it's a blown capacitor

Yes, it can be that and other components.
Most common failure in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed WESTINGHOUSE (LCM-20V5 may be thesame chssis as yours) and monitors to get some ideas what goes wrong: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further.

Same thing.

Hello,

If you have the 2 blown capacitors on the power board then most likely yo also have blown MOSFETs and a blown fuse. The MOSFETS and fuse blow when the capacitors short out when they blow. We sell a kit with the capacitors, MOSFETs and fuse with instructions for $10.00 plus shipping. Let me know if you need a repair kit.

Monitor dead

If the monitor has no power at all then you have a dead power board, or a broken power cord, test also a different wall AC outlet.

If instead there is a flashing led on front of the monitor, that indicates a fault condition.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the Monitor goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1 The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or a broken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the monitor will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

Common faults that can occurr suddenly are a blown capacitor on power board, the inverter board powering up backlight lamp has blown, or a fault on main lcd controller board.
check also the video cable, if the cable is shorting, or the connector is bad, you can get same flashing state because of the video cable.

Check connectors, try moving the video cable, and if the cable is not built in, then also try a replacement cable.
Regards
