If there was something wrong with the monitor itself it wouldn't go to sleep it would just turn off. It sounds to be as if there is an issue with the signal going to the monitor itself, try restarting your PC and ensure that the connection on the back of the monitor and the connection on the back of your PC are secure.
Pls check whether your cpu is properly booting because your monitor sleeps out because there is no signal detected coming in from the cpu try to connect your monitor to another cpu so that you can determine the proper operation of the monitor...
More likely to have bad caps with bulging top in the power supply, that is the first place to look for the monitor this old, see example of failed monitos due to bad caps: http://s807.photobucket.com/home/budm/allalbums Post back what you se sowe help you more.
if your monitor says no signal and goes to sleep when your pc is on then the first thing to check is if it's plugged into the correct socket. I've had people tell me yes to this question and when I see them all I do is plug the monitor into the right socket. They had an additional graphics card as well as the on board graphics output. If this is not the issue then the graphics output is probably shot, add new graphics card or replace motherboard.
I have a dual monitor system, both are the x223w. Same problem but only on the second monitor. Backlight shuts off.On/off light stays blue. I have to turn off the monitor and turn it back on. I returned it and Acer could not find any problem so I got it back. No problem for awhile and now a few times over the past couple days. Not good...
I absolutely despise monitor and computer sleep or hibernation modes. Before I started routinely disabling this on all the computers I supported my users were always having problems no matter how computer literate they were.
I know this sounds simplistic and you may have already done it but have you just unplugged the monitor?
If that doesn?t work maybe the PC itself has gone to sleep as well. Try moving the mouse, hitting a keyboard key. If that doesn?t work try pushing the power button on the computer to turn it on. If all else fails pull the power plug on the computer itself, plug back in and it should start up. I would suggest disabling all of this via Windows Power settings in the control panel.
