I have a hotpoint HSS25GFPJWW fridg. The coil that opens the flapper door for the ice was bad so i replaced it . Now when i push the leaver in to get ice the fridge shut's down like ther is a large power drain. This was doing this before i replaced the coil but the flapper door was not opening then now it opens. It evens shut's the compressor off.

SOURCE: WHIRLPOOL CB18M FRIDGE FREEZER

3 things to check. If you didn't adjust the damer from the freezer to the refrigerator, like closed it off. Is the freezer fan running? The fan blows air from the freezer to the refrigerator section. Some fans shut off when the door is open so you may have to push in the door switch to check this out.
Look for ice on the back wall, of the freezer section, If present then the defrost cycle is not working. The evap. coil is icing up and there is no air blowing into the refrigerator. Set the thermostat back to the normal setting it just causes a longer run time on the freezer section.

try this, make sure you dont have anything blocking your blower in the freezer.if that is okay if you have seperate controls for the freezer and the fridge, try setting the frige setting lower and the freezer higher, this makes the blower work more in the freezer.hope it helps.

I have a Hoover Fridge freezer and my fridge is really warm inside and the freezer is not freezing the food in the top drawer but it is keeping the food a bit cold. What could be wrong with it?

It could be

- a faulty thermostat
- a loss of refrigerant through leakage
- a very poor sealing door gasket

If the fridge is old I'd say you will need to replace it.

Hi ive hoover hrfa54w fridge freezer just over a year old. Ive noticed freezer is starting to defrost sometimes the freeze again....its in a holiday cottage so often in a very cold ambient temperatur

Ambient temp will cause the thermostat some confusion. There's probably nothing wrong with the fridge, my freezer doesn't like being in the outhouse. Only alternative is only switch on when you are there or move it to a cupboard where you could put a low output source of heat just enough to keep it happy. Then get it out when you are there?

I had same problem. Needed a new thermostat. Lasted about 18 months, then needed to replace fridge. Ice build up is between the inside and outside layers of the fridge as well. May just be more economical to replace. Cheers

Fridge is freezing food

I have had the same issue with thick frost/ice at the back of my Fridge and almost called an engineer and considered replacing it.. BUT you don't want to so that: Do this:

1. Take freezer draws out and empty fridge so it is lighter and easier to move Fridge Freezer out
2. Chuck some warm soapy water down the drainage hole in back of fridge to ensure it is not blocked
3. Pull the plug. Leave it off for 5-10 mins.
4. Plug it in, reload her
5. Next morning.. perfect all back to normal

I think the unplugging just resets the thermostat and gets your machine back to life.

If its freezing at the back that indicates refrigeration is good. it sounds like you have a thermostat control problem. Replace the thermostat.

Fridge freezer not working

Thermostat can easily be determined, it has knob or a display for digital control. If it is a knob try to set it to high cool but if wont work.Try to unplug the unit and pull out the thermostat set it to high cool and check if there is a resistance on its terminals. Or check for open overload compressor Or may be the winding of compressor is open.
