Im using windows 7. Yahoo messenger suddenly doesn't show messages that i am receiving from my contacts.. I have done most of the fixes shown in forums but doesn't help Please help

Oh, its simple. In a nutshell you need to download and install yahoo messenger. Once you've done that, you need to include the person you want to send a instant message to as one of your contacts or friends. You do that by getting their email address and putting it in your contact, buddy or friend list. Once you have it there you will click on it and send them a instant message. Now I think the first time you send them one they will have to approve you as someone they want to receive messages from by accepting or rejecting your IM. Oh, and they on the other end would need your email address included in their contact, friend or buddy list.

To use Yahoo Messenger, you first need to download it. Here is the link to the latest version which is Yahoo Messenger 10:

If you want to use Chat Rooms, these are available on the US version of Yahoo Messenger 10. Just click on the US flag at the bottom of the download page.

Once downloaded, this is how you can add your contacts and friends:

Click on "Contacts" in the top of the "Messenger" window pane.

Click on "Add a Contact".

You will then see two options. Either you can add somebody from their Messenger ID or email address or you can choose a contact from your address book.

For each contact you add, click on "Next" to take you through the process. An invitation will then be sent to each one you have added. Their names will appear on your Messenger List with a message "Add Request Pending". This message will disappear when the invitation is accepted.

TO IM SOMEONE:

You right click on the contact that you want to IM and then click on " Instant Message". Another box will open up for you to type your message in. When you have finished typing your message, hit the "Send" button on the right of the box you are typing in.

If the person is showing as "online", he will get the message straight away. If the person if "offline", he will receive the message as soon as he signs into Yahoo Messenger.

To use email chat, you need to sign yourself in on your email page. Next to your username, you will see a status which may be set to "Offline" at the moment. Click on it and change your status to "Available".

Thefirst thing to check is to make sure you have scripting enabled in InternetExplorer. Internet Explorer is integrated into Yahoo Messenger so things thatgo wrong with IE can affect Yahoo Messenger. I would recommend that you uninstall yahoo messenger and re-install a fresh copy from yahoo.com If that doesnt work then it is a Windows issue.

yahoo!7 messenger is unable to download files needed for installation. Please

check firewall settings and retry installation.
I found the answer its so simple, The problem has nothing to do with firewalls.

Yahoo instant messenger (yim) needs internet explorer 7 or above version to

enable yim to operate properly with the current yim versions. If you have an

earlier version of IE (I was using IE 6 coz I always use firefox and did not

have windows update enabled coz I did not want my windows operating system to be

revealed as it was copied and theredore not legit) So I disabled windows update

and kept using firefox, but even if you never use internet explorer, yim still

needs internet explorer 7 to operate without these errors shown above. I tried

to fix it for weeks thinking it was fiewall or such, but it just needed IE 7 so

I downloaded it here:

and even tho it says its for a windows server it still worked on my windows

XP pro 64bit and now yim is working properly, allowing multiple copies of

contacts etc, no problems at all now. I also downloaded firefox version 35,

which helps yim too coz its yahoo preferred.

Hi,

This is what you can do, click on the chat box for a particular contact on your IM list. Just click on the arrow below your display image. A drop down menu would appear, left click on "Share my Picture". Once this is done that particular contact would be able to see your display image. You can repeat this for all the contacts on your IM list, this is a simple way to make your image shown to your contacts.
