SONY DAV-FX900KW - I am unable to eject a DVD and the message displayed is "Please wait DEST ERROR". The disk can still play, but I can not eject or change to another empty CD space.

Not sure. General advice is 1) Try cold start (unplug, let set for several minutes, replug and try) 2) Try a reset (page 72 of user manual) 3) check any cabling. The troubleshooting in the user manual does not refer to this specific error.

First try turning off the unit and unplugging for 15 seconds to reset. Next try a different DVD. If nothing works then you will probably need a professional to service the DVD drive.

I have a Sony DAV HDX465 S-Master that showed "please wait" when I switched it on. This could mean a stuck DVD tray. Unplug the power cord. Open the top of the unit (9 screws). Plug the power cord back. Wear insulated gloves if you feel safer doing so. Reach into the DVD tray and try to "jiggle" the plastic tab that slides forward and backward. Do not touch the circuit board. Occasionally punch the eject button while continuing to jiggle the DVD tray. Once you hear the drawer move, the stuck DVD will be ejected and all the unit's functions will return to normal.

Most repair shops can eject the disk for you for a nominal fee. Shouldn't cost more than 30$. You can find a repair shop under TV repair in your yellow pages. I've also heard that Best Buy provides this service in some areas.
