This is generally a driver glitch. Uninstall the video drivers from the device manager, then reboot. It will find the hardware and reinstall the drivers. Then adjust the screen resolution from display properties. This should bring your screen back to normal size.

Acer laptop display goes off after some second

Try booting into safe mode. Chances are that you have set the screen resolution and refresh rate to some value that the LCD cannot handle. That is why it works until Windows takes over. Once you are in Safe Mode you can get things under control.

My laptop is dell latitude c640,i but fairly used and the guy boot in my present by sent the setup and the window xp comes on,and after using it for some time i mistakingly press f1; during switch on and...

It seems the some error has ocurred to the BIOS set up of your laptop. After switching on when the POST process completes and BIOS programme hands over the process to the OS or in your case Windows XP watch the screen for displayed messages. See which button to be pressed instantly as the message prompts for accessing the BIOS set up window or dialog box. Once in the BIOS set up window go to set the BIOS appropriately by navibating to the different set up pages as promted by on screen display. BIOS set up is very critical wrong set up can land you in further touble from where it may be difficult to return. Before doing anything by yourself get yourself well informed regarding the BIOS set up.If some part of the BIOS programme has become corrupt. you need to flash the BIOS set programme for your specific model. From the website of DELL company these soft wares can be dwnloaded using internet and another computer. For windows related problems the system can be booted using bootable media then necessary changes to the OS can be carried out step by step. If the laptop is new one it may be better to take it to the dealer for solving the problem, in case any unauthorised person tries to open the cabinet for hardware repairs. If the gurantee period is over, one thing can attemped. Some times many such problems occur due to contamination of the contacts through which connection between different parts of computers are established, If you have used the laptop outdoors for fairly long time now this could have happened. In this case the case may be carefully opened and cleaned with soft brush and voccume cleaner. The RAM card may be detached from the socket and carefuly reinserted after properly cleaning the surface and pins.
Let's hope your computer becomes alright. Or else you may visit Dell website for expert guidence.

When you power up the computer press F1 or F2 or DEL or ALT+F2 key to enter in bios then load optimal defaults settings. Then save settings also make sure your harddrive is recognized in bios if it is not show in main menu then disable SATA option then save settings.
But if you are not able to see any display and your laptop look like hangup when power up then opoen back cover of laptop then reattach the RAM memory into it's position pull cmos cell from motheboard for 10 minutes then put it into it's position then check.
If you are able to see windows logo then white screen thjen when you power up the computer press F8 key then enter in enable vga mode then display settings and change screen resolution to 1024*768 .
But if you are unable enter i enable vga mode too then you need windows disk to repair windows.

The bios has a full screen but the windows do not show full screen

Goto the System BIOS and skip to Page 4 of 7 (Press Alt+P three times to do this). Set the field "Primary Video" to System and "Video Expansion" to Enabled. Save settings and exit. System would reboot with normal graphics now. If the Screen is still squeezed in Windows, reinstall your video drivers from support.dell.com

Movie Files will not display on the TV.

Its quite possible your laptop has lost its association with your TV as a "secondy monitor".

To check this, minimise everything and right click on the desktop and go to Properties. Then navigate to the settings tab. This will show you how many displays it considers itself to have.

Click on number 2 (if visable) and click on extend my windows desktop to this monitor.

You should now be able to go between screens
