I have a medion laptop that will not connect to my wireless router set up. All the problem solvers come up with Problem with network adaptors, I tried it on a modem and no driver software could be found. Please can you tell me where do I find this software and how can I install it with no internet connection. Grateful for any help you can give me. Regards Elaine

Welcome to fixya

might need togo the device manger and see if the modem is on the list and right click it and do a update drivers on it ..

if this does not work goto the makes website and see if they have to modem driver there

if not then goto drivers.com or driversupdate.org and this company has a program you can download on your laptop and see what drivers are missing

ithis also might work goto msdos promt

type in ipconfig hit enter (if it show nothing there then try the rest of this )

type in ipconfig/release hit enter

type in ipconfig/renew

this is a old trick to search for a ip and get a new on using your wireless router

if this does not work or anything eles i said does not work let me know

hope this helps out have a good day

Wireless adaptor problem

you could have a bad wireless card. is your wireless card built in is it one your stick in? You can try resetting the routers modem and computer and then starting them all back up, make sure no radio signals are interfering, and make sure no electical devices such as a phone, toaster...are close to the router and computer.........make sure routers are at highest point for the best signal strength....if none of this works the best bet it might be a bad network card...if you have a warranty call the warranty company they will cover bad networks card...hope this helps

Try checking if the laptop's wireless button is switched to on. It helps a lot! On my laptop, you have to switch a button to turn the wireless on. If i don't it's impossible to get a connect.

hope this helps :)

Three different wireless cards could not connect to the wireless-G Router I need to confirm WEP and check router settings.

Plug an ethernet cable into the router and laptop, remove the wep key. See if you can connect wireless then. If not sounds like you need to manually remove the the connection from the connection properties (DONT DISABLE THE NETWORK ADAPTOR) then see if you can connect.

I hope you mean that this adaptor is a usb network card? If so yes it could be possible. Please send the model of both the usb network card and the model of the wireless router.

Connecting Wireless Modem to Laptop.

Firstly, you need to connect your router to a broadband activated phoneline. On the back of your router there is a socket which should say Phone Line and I believe it is at the top.
This will then radiate a radio broadband signal.

Next, you need to be able to link your computer(s) to your router. There are basically four ways of doing this.

1) ETHERNET - You can connect from the ethernet socket on your computer to the ethernet socket on your router. If you have an ethernet socket on your computer, this is the simplest connection but not always the most convenient. If you don't have an ethernet socket on your computer you will not be able to use the yellow cable.

2) USB - You can connect from the USB socket on the router to a USB socket on your computer. You will need to install USB drivers to do this, but it's not difficult.

3) WIRELESS - You can use a Wireless LAN Adaptor. This can either be a card, built in to your computer or an external USB linked wireless adaptor plugged into an available UBS socket on your computer. These are trickier to set up but you have the freedom to connect to the internet from anywhere within radio range of your router and without wires. Some computers have wireless network adaptors built in already, especially laptops. You can find out by doing the following:
Start\Programs\Accessories\Communications\Newtork Connections - check to see if any of the connections say 'wireless' If they do you're in luck.

4) HPNA - You could use a Home PNA Adaptor (HPNA). This allows you to connect to your router from a different room by plugging into a phone socket through through the HPNA. These can be a little unreliable and do suffere sometimes with interference.

As soon as you have connected to the router, you need to connect to the router's Gateway or control panel. This allows you to set a WEP security code for your network and stops your neighbour or anyone else from connecting to your network. If you use a wireless LAN you will have to set this up with your security code.

To prevent hash intereference to your phone, you need to use microfilters on each phone in your house. Usually a couple of filters will be included with your router, and you can easily purchase more, if you have phones all over your house.

Please find the guide for your router at the link below.

You can also download software and drivers from http://www.2wire.com
Just go to the support page and look for your particular model

Hope this helps....
