There are two things to consider:
1) Your hard disk might be destroyed or have reached its lifespan.

2) Your operating system was corrupted.

Try changing your existing hard disk with another one. If it reboots and starts the operating system installed on it then it is presumed that the other one is destroyed.

Restore disk has been lost. I need to know how to change bios to allow straight Xp to be installed

This isn't a bios setting, it's a setting that Compaq put somewhere (probably the MBR) of your OS to only allow it's restore discs.
If you want to use straight Windows XP OEM discs, just boot to the disc and you'll be able to install Windows. If that doesn't work, just format your hard drive(you'll lose everything) then boot to the XP and install that way.

Compaq Preario V5245eu cant get past scrolling xp window just restarts and doesn'r get anywhere have had a c000021a fatal error warning- help please Rodger

If you attempt to install a piece of hardware or software on your PC computer that is incompatible with your system, you may see a blue screen with a C000021a fatal error warning. The easiest way to recover the Windows operating system from this type of error is to restore your computer to a previously working state.
1.Press the "F8" key on your keyboard when prompted during the boot process.

2.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the "Last Known Good Configuration" option. Then hit "Enter.
3.Use the up-and-down arrow keys to highlight the operating system version that you wish to boot up to, and then hit "Enter" again. The system will now restart to the last working version of your operating system, which will eliminate the C000021a fatal error.
Hope this helps

I am trying to format c: and erase everything on that drive i dont have a boot disk however just the windows xp pro disk and i cant remember how to get into command prompt

You can't format the drive while Windows is running. Insert the CD, reboot, and follow the prompts to delete and re-add the main partition, then do a Quick format.

Downloaded sp2 to my windows xp home edition when computer restarted i got a blue screen and error coad c000021a (fatal error code ) now i get disk boot failure how do i fix this

Harddisk might have some bad surface areas on it. This could possible due to power surge. Repair the HDD with harddisk tools. To do the repair without the tools try scandisk from the dos promt using boot disk. Reinstall XP with the sp2 and all the softwares that you use. Use repair CD that should do most of the softwares itself and install the others software with the CDs or setup programs on backup disk. Back up all the data before doing the clean install so that you can restore it after clean install.

Cannot repair vista

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA (The error code, 0x0A, 0x01E, or 0x50 can also be helpful)

Faulty hardware is the most common cause, followed by a buggy system service, antivirus software, or a corrupted NTFS volume.

Disconnect any external peripherals, including the printer. If you have any internal media devices, such as card readers, make sure nothing is inserted in those slots.

Try running the Startup Repair from the Vista installation disk several times in succession. This has been shown to have a cumulative effect, in some cases.

Next try booting to the F8 safe boot menu again. If you get that menu, try the "last known good" option first.

If none of this works, I would recommend that you use your latest backup solution.

If you don't have backup or Windows installation CD, suggest purchase Windows Vista Business. It runs well.

Regards,
Maha
