When i got a new remote the volume control never worked. Randomly the volume bar would appeear but are never sure what has been pressed. Now randomly the red bar for volume mute has come up and now we have no sound

Well this is normally sticking buttons, but you say you tried on another remote. Do you have multiple remotes? Lift up all the settee and chair cushions and look for a remote down there that is having its buttons pressed. Also do you have smartphones in the family that have a remote function? One of the kids keep their phone in their pockets?

You can try resetting the television.

Otherwise new remote and if that doesn't work, professional diagnosis and repair.

If the remote controller is not at fault by randomly sending packets of commands, clean/replace the manual switched on the tv.

You might need to get this checked with the manfucaturer, looks like a malfunctioning remote control. Or you can just replace the remot and see if that helps.

If you can get at the controls again----undo or unsolder the micro switch for volume down! Remove it and see if set works.

A no brainer in that if that switch is bad and vol down still displays nothing else would work

the volume control is increasing randomly on it's own because the volume button on the TV is partially stuck in, that is why its coming up occasionally. This same thing may also happen to the remote control of the TV.

Use your find to rub the buttons on the buttons on the TV, especially the volume control button. Do same on the remote and most definitely problem should be solved.

Hi. Were you able to get this remote working ? I suggest you try a firmware update, since you didnt mention that you had tried that. I find that usually solves weird problems like this one. You can do that by going through the following steps:


1. Connect your remote to the computer.
2. Launch the Harmony Remote Software, and log in.
3. Click "Downloads" at the top and click "Firmware"
4. The remote will go through the firmware update.
5. Select "Yes", and click NEXT to update the remote

Sounds like one or more of the keypad buttons are sticking - That would also cause the remote control to stop functioning.When you saw "P:0 V:0" you somehow managed to put the tv into the service menu. Pull the keyboard away from the plastic buttons and make sure nothing is in the way.
