How to clean the filter
I have been told by a certified panasonic serviceman that the filters are inside the light engine on the back side of the the tv....you can only enter thru the back to get to the light engine. Apparently there are several filters inside the light engine assembly. I was told the cost is around $250 to come out and clean the filters. I have completely torn out the back assembly of my projection tv but have not gone as far as to take out the light engine. That will be my new task, as soon as i find a cheap or free service manual on the PT-50lcx64 projection tv i have.
I had the same message come up on mine called a service co. they came over took the front panel off tv removed center door which exposed what appeared to be a lens of some sort sitting on top of a square box with a type of foam glued to it he said that was the only filter on that television he took a damp papertowel and wiped it off. message has not reappeared but that was just earlier today. Hope this helps.

Yea, I am having a problem finding the air filter. Some say they clean it often, but I can't find it. Last night watching tv and heard a bop and the tv went off. Did some research and thought it sounded like the lamp and ordered one from ebay. Now, today I have read many more things and don't know if that is the problem or not. Will know when I replace the lamp. However, when I took the lamp housing out today, the lamp was shattered inside. So, ?? Read it could be the power supply?? So, please anyone, can you help me out? I need to know how to get the filter out to clean??
