Osd for filter needs cleaning

How to clean the filter

  • dmarq102855 Jul 15, 2008

Yea, I am having a problem finding the air filter. Some say they clean it often, but I can't find it. Last night watching tv and heard a bop and the tv went off. Did some research and thought it sounded like the lamp and ordered one from ebay. Now, today I have read many more things and don't know if that is the problem or not. Will know when I replace the lamp. However, when I took the lamp housing out today, the lamp was shattered inside. So, ?? Read it could be the power supply?? So, please anyone, can you help me out? I need to know how to get the filter out to clean??

I have been told by a certified panasonic serviceman that the filters are inside the light engine on the back side of the the tv....you can only enter thru the back to get to the light engine. Apparently there are several filters inside the light engine assembly. I was told the cost is around $250 to come out and clean the filters. I have completely torn out the back assembly of my projection tv but have not gone as far as to take out the light engine. That will be my new task, as soon as i find a cheap or free service manual on the PT-50lcx64 projection tv i have.

Hope this helps.

Head Doctor OSD reports "clean heads"

Yes it could well have. Depends also on how you clean the heads. The best method is to take of the top cover of the VCR and with some Servisol Video 40 spray - spray and wipe with cotton buds all the surfaces the tape touches. You might have to do this several times. More if the video is in a room where someone smokes! If that doesn't work the Video head might need to be replace.

PS you can't get the Servisol at places such as Maplin (UK) or Radio Shack (USA) and online sites such as Amazon and E-bay.

HP pavilion vf15 monitor (OSD lockout)

this could be a bad button connection or the osd IC chip is failing for some reason that would need to be tested to determine why.
so if you can take it apart then clean the button and the plastic of dirt , and check the contact button to see if it looks faulty or check it to see if it is making contact all the time
if those are not the problem then it is the IC chip and will need testing to find the culprit

OSD Message Panasonic PT-50LC14 Air Filter Needs Cleaning

I had the same problem and the stupid tv would shut off after 1 minute. We opened the silver front panel , took the bulb out cleaned it, took the cover off the grey box to the right and very carefully vaccumed the filter and wiped it off with a microfiber cloth. It works great now!!! Make sure you unplug your tv before messing with it.

Tepreture light comes on and OSD advising to clean air filter

if you take off the front panel to access the lamp for replacement. there should be the air filter near by that you can remove. Carefully clean it by blowing through it but use no liquids. If it is too clogged then filter replacement is probably needed. I think you have to get the filter with the new lamp otherwise.
