I have put the charger in my laptop and the charger light is not coming on

Please check the voltage on the output of the adapter and if this is absent then the adapter is faulty. check the link below for tips:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r5164850-laptop_power_supply

However if there is voltage on the pins then check the voltage on the battery terminal pins in the laptop. If absent then the motherboard is faulty.

you need to use a multimeter to check and track the path of the voltage/current to confirm the area of fault in the charging section.

Missing battery indicator in the task bar

Hi,

No this is more typical with Windows Vista users as updates can disable the icons from the notification bar.

Chose 'taskbar' tab, then click 'customize' and chose the option for the battery icon and change to 'show' .

If you need anymore help please post back.

Icons and start upmenu bar absent

explorer.exe is what displays the icons and the startup bar on the screen so try opening explorer.exe from the task manager. Or if it is already running close it and then reopen it.
