Question about Samsung HLN567W 56" Rear Projection HDTV

Samsung DLP - won't turn on

I think my house was struck by lightening last week and the only things dead are my phone and my TV. I press the power button, the green power light blinks 4-5 times and then stops. That's as much as I get. It was plugged into a Belkin battery backup but I am afraid it took the hit anyway. Luckily none of my surround sound components show problems.
There is no Samsung repair center close by (min. 1hr) and I really don't want to pay a pretty penny to have it "assessed" only to find it isn't worth it to repair especially given the new technology out there.
Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

I can't confirm the TV took a hit but are the actions of the TV when I try to power it on and strong indication that it did take the hit?

Lightening means ,it seems to be a big problem .I think repairing may not worth, because the repairing will be very high for this problem ,so repairing is not suggested from my point of view

Trying to repair a samsung led tv. It was struck by lightening. There are 4 boards in the tv. Do you think if I replace all 4 boards it would work? Could the lightening have damaged the led screen?

any answer here will be pure guessing. and the cost versus the risk of not working by replacing all four boards may make it worth buying a new tv instead.

if you were to try and fix it i would not do anything more than trying to fix or replace the power supply board. . if the power surge has gone further in the electronics. its rarely worth trying to fix

2004 envoy won't start after my house got struck by lightening. Coincidence?

Yes the lighting likely burned out the car's electronic control module(s). Contact your insurance company, this can be a very expensive repair.

Why won't my TV turn on after a storm?

Your TV might very easily be destroyed now, from lightening damage. Lightening can come in on the cable, on the power line, all sorts of unexpected ways. I've personally been struck by lightening, plenty hard enough to destroy almost any electronic device... and I was working in a basement at the time.

ILO 42" flat screen I think was struck by lightening and now there is no color. Is there anything I can do to fix myself?

tried to reset the tv first, if struck by lightning the tuner will be damaged or the main board but since the tv is still working so i think not the lightning was the main cause.

My Sharp Aquos LC-26D44E-GY in the spare room has stopped working. It worked ok about 2 weeks ago, went to switch it on last night & its dead. We had a thunder/lightening storm last week? Ive changed...

First check your power outlet, try connecting the TV to a different power outlet. Then see whether the LED light on the TV is on or blinking. Anyhow, this might need attention by a qualified service technician.

White dots appearing on Samsung TV screen and multipling each day

It seems you might have an issue with the dmd board. Go to the menu, and if the dots still show on the menu, the issue definitely is with the dmd board but if they don't come up on the menu, the issue will be with the video board.

We had a near lightning strike and now my tv (sanyo model ht27744)doesn't want to come on.

Lightening may have caused a surge on your power lines to the house and to the outlet the TV was on.
Do other things work on that outlet? If not you tripped a power breaker. If they do work check this.
Unplug the TV for 2 min or more and plug back in.
Try bypassing your surge protector you had it plugged into. It could have died when the lightening struck.
(no surge protector?) Bet you'll buy one for your next TV.
Look for 3000 joules and up rating for a surge protector and insure it has protection for a cable/antenna input too.
If this doesn't work the TV may be fried or internal fuse blown.
Time to take it to a repair shop or depending on it's age (5 years+) it may be time to buy a new TV and surge protector.
Near Lightening strikes can effect appliances from several inputs that could be affected from outside like Power, Cable, Antennas, Phone Lines that come into your house.

My tv does not power on - I think is the ad/dc adapter

Hi I am Vortash If the set was struck then it may be beyond repair , if however you had a spike due to the mains lines being struck you may get away with a new charger and recharge the batteries .. But it may have had a serious electrical spike go through it from the mains also and again would be beyond economical repair get a free estimate from a local service dealer and if it is too extensively damaged maybe claim for it on your household insurance ... Regards Vortash
