Question about Cell Phones
Why is an envelope icon flashing on my screen? It is not the 'voice message' icon...not sure why it is flashing and how to make it stop. Please help. Thanks.
Yet another essential detail: It might happen that your Nokia E52 is unable to read old messages from your sim card. At least this happened to me, when putting my old card (used in some 6-7 years old nokia phone) to a new E52. No message was visible but they were there!!! The solution: Put the card into your old nokia (switch it perhaps to the card memory) and then delete the old messages (below some number - you must try the amount- or all of them). Then the things work.
It is in fact an unpleasant incompatibility and Nokia should mend it!

The flashing envelope indicates a text message, either you have an unread text, or your text memory is full, if you have no unread text, then it may be full, go into your texts and delete all the ones you do not need to keep as all phones are different, how you do this may be different to mine, but try going into text messages and pressing the options and select delete. hope this helps

Ok, I had this problem just now and fixed it thru pretty much fluke..Check to see if Instant messenger is running in the background. Mine was and I couldnt get it to exit the program, and for whatever reason it was jamming all of my SMS...I actually realised this when i put my SIM card into another Nokia phone I had, and all of these txts came thru, but it wasnt readable because the file was *.msn file...so i figured it was the Instant Messenger getting bugged up. So I went back to my new Nokie E71 and deleted IM and now the txts seem to be working...i hope this helps!

It is probably your sim messages that need to be erased, you can do that by going to :
Menu > Messaging > Options > Sim Messages
delete all sim messages and your issue should be solved
