    Greetings,

Do you have any MSN application that is set to run automatically when the computer starts ?

Disable it if you don't need it.

I have done both of the instructions as of above but I still have the problem of the load msnhook.dll fail on start up and I did not have to disable msn application it was not on at all.

Has anyone else got a solution.

    Thanking you,

    Tony.

    Tony.

First, do a full system scan with your anti virus software. Next, uninstall and then reinstall your Anti Virus software again. This usually occurs after a definition update, which identifies your Direct Console as a Trojan threat. Reinstalling the Anti virus usually resolves the issue..

To fix this you will need to go into your anti-virus/anti-spy-ware program and add the path to the Asus Direct Console folder, as well as the paths for LCMP.exe and MSNHOOK.dll to the exceptions.
After doing this, download the latest Direct Console (also goes by other names like Direct Messaging, version from the appropriate Asus site and do a repair install to put the msnhook.dll file back (or just restore it from the virus vault). Reboot and the message should be gone and Direct Console should be running and properly functioning.
Hope that helps........

Is the msnhool.dll file there or missing?
it should be in C:\Program Files\ASUS\ASUS Direct Console

  • Ekse Jul 02, 2008

you may have to add the file into your antivirus / firewall exception list so it can be loaded if they are blocking it.

  • Ekse Jul 02, 2008

If Direct Console fails to start those features will not function correctly or at all. The solution is to add the directory C:\Program Files\ASUS\ASUS Direct Console to the exception list in your anti-virus software

Will not start, windows says it starting but never do . don't have recovery disk

Run the Check Disk Utility with your Vista Ultimate disk.
To run the check disk utility you will need a repair disc ora operating system disc. Put the disc in the cd drive and boot fromit. You want to get to the Dos Command Prompt (Black screen with whiteletters) and type the following command: chkdsk /r
Check disk will run well over an hour or two and you will notice thepercentages going from high to low, this is normal. Let it run tocompletion. Then reboot machine.

If check disk fails to solve your problem you might have to reinstall windows.Try doing a Repair Install that way you don't loose your data, documents, music, pictures, videos or programs.

In windows xp you get to the dos command prompt by selecting R for repair whenthe options appear.

In Vista and Windows 7 you want to get to the recoveryconsole and look down at the bottom of the window for the Dos Command.

I have an asus F3Sv laptop\ 8600m gs card\3gb ram\vista ultimate os\this machine has been fine for a year i play games on it (i know there not made for that)the last month or so it has taken to shutting...

It could be a power problem when playing games.
When a games starts up the graphics card starts to draw more power from the system.
Its could be that your graphics card might need replacing or that your power supply might need upgrading. PC systems, more so gaming systems, like to have alot of power.
Also before this I would try and download the latest graphics card drivers, to see if that helps the problem.

You could leave it off for a few hours, but there is a much faster solution that does pretty much the same thing. Turn your computer off, unplug ur AC and battery. Then press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds. This will drain all of the power remaining in ur computer. Then plug ur ac adapter back in and it should be fine.

Is ultimate solitaire 1000 compatable with windows vista?

It is designed for Windows XP, running DirectX 9.
You can try running Backwards Compatibility that Windows Vista provides backwards compatability with win32 operating systems.
Only warning is that not all programs run efficiently and there might be bugs because of the different Operating Systems and the OS software was built for.
