Ok the long and short of it all is I have an emachine w3502 and i HAD virius pertection on it but it was ****.ok so I start up my computer and the wall paper shows up but the start menu and all my icons dont no matter what I did it wouldnt work.So I called a friend of mine that worked for a computer place and was a computer annalist in the Army he started to transfer all my data over to my labtop. He said he could fix my problem with the windows XP disk for my emachine. The problem is my emachine didnt (and none of my friends) come with a disk for Xp it was just there.Yes buying a new computer might help but My mother has a EBay buisness and ALL of her income comes from that emachine so if I was to reboot it would loos all her info and products. If you could assist me I would be truly gratful.
I am not sure what you mean "if you reboot you will loose all the data" or do you mean reformat your hard drive? You should be able to reboot your system in safe mode which will load only the minimal drivers for your system to work. Safe mode can be used to fix a lot of problems and should not cause you to loose any data. Once you have your system up in safe mode you can use your recovery console to help you troubleshoot and fix many problems including corrupt files from viruses or use " last known good configuration" etc. In the future it is always a good idea to back up your system and burn the back up to a disk, since you have a business this should be done every two days. You can also make a boot disk that can help you if you encounter a problem in the future. Another option is cloning your hard drive which you can buy thrid party software that will make this easy, but you will need to have another hard drive and the software to do this. If your friend has more technical knowledge about computers than you, he should be able to help explain the things I mentioned. Hope this helps, please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
