Have you installed the necessary drivers for the wireless adapters? If yes, please check in the Network Connections if the wireless connection is enabled or disabled. Also, check if there are other programs using the wireless connection like Realtek Wireless LAN Utility.
was you activate your wireless adapter?press Fn+F3 to activate
was you connect your acer to wireless network?
at windows xp : click network connection click show available network, chose the network name then click connect, open browser (internet explorer, mozilla firefox, etc) try to open page
at windows vista or windows 7: click at network connection, right click then chose connect to :
then chose the network name then click connect, open browser (internet explorer, mozilla firefox, etc) try to open page
Can you be more specific please ? i.e, is it the first time you have tried (new laptop) or has this problem just started (new wireless software added recently??) .. I do remember an old problem on acer's a couple of years back they had a power saving option on the wireless adapter that would turn itself to maximum by default. You could try this as a possible quick fix or give me some more info and I will try to help: right click my computer / properties / hardware tab / device manager… then find your wireless adapter in the list under Network Adapters, right click / properties / advanced tab. Select Power Save Mode from the list on the left and select Off from the drop down on the right. Press OK and close device manager.
Let me know how you get on, but with more info I might be able to help
Ahhh, Ubuntu. You may need to go online and find wireless drivers that will work with your wireless card.
On an unrelated note, OpenSolaris has an option on it to download all of the compatible drivers for your computer when you first hardwire it to an internet connection, so if you keep having trouble with ubuntu, you could always try switching over to that.
is your wireless router set to broadcast itself?
you should be able to double-click the small, single computer icon in the lower right corner and have at least one wireless network (yours) to connect to. once you click it to connect, it may require a key sequence, if it is set up for it (passcode). Also, try clicking "Start", right-click "Computer", choose "Properties", "hardware" tab, and "Device Manager". Check to see if your wireless network card has a driver problem (yellow exclamation point". Can you access the network with your netbook connected to the router via a cable? If you can, and have internet access, go to the Acer Support site and download the latest wireless card drivers and install them. see if this helps. Good luck!
