How do you tension the dryer bet on a Kenmore 80 series dryer

you will have to loop the belt through the roller first then while you are installing the belt around the drum it will have tension. two people will need to install this since you have not done this before I assume. One to hold the drum up for you

Belt change on a Maytag DE410

Most of the time these models have screws in the back of the machine on the top lid. You'll need to get over behind the dryer to access this panel. You'll need a "star" type screwdriver (most come in a set). Remove the top lid to expose the drum. The belt will run around the drum and down around the safety cut out switch. This switch is most likely a teflon or plastic wheel that the belt loops around. After installing the belt, replace all of the screws and you're good to go!

Kenmore electric dryer, power on, drum doesn't turn. Help? can I fix this myself or do I have to call out for repairs. About how much will this cost, or should I replace, it's about 12 years old. Thankx

check the belt that goes around the drum and the idler and motor pulley. if it is broken replace it. when installing the ribs on the belt go down against the drum. a new belt is somewhere between $10-$20. you can do this easily yourself.

I have a kenmore 27 inch electric dryer that when you push the start button it sounds like it starts but the drum doesn't turn. What could this be?

A clear indication that your dryer belt is broken is when the dryer drive motor runs but the drum does not rotate. A new belt is relatively inexpensive from several online or a local parts vendor, but installing it can be a bit frustrating since the dryer drum usually needs to be remove to install a replacement belt. Access to the interior of the dryer is usually necessary. For Maytag (and some Kenmore) models, the front of the dryer can be easily removed (two screws below front contour) by pulling out on the bottom of the panel and rotating up to release the top clips. Once off, place to the side, then remove four machine screws from the front drum/lint filter assembly, then remove by pullling out. Once off, place aside. Remove drum by lifting up and pulling out on drum (since the belt is broken it will not provide any resistance). Once removed, inspect the motor pulley arrangement noting the belt routing path around the motor pulley, belt tensioner, and the drum. Inspect the drum for belt wear marks, noting approximate location on drum where belt rides. Install replacement belt by routing through pulley arrangement (ridged side of belt rides againt motor pulley), then "hang" the belt on the interior backside to enable reaching the belt after reinstalling the drum. After placing the drum edge on the rear rollers, lift the front of the drum up into position, working the belt around the drum into the drum groove. Once the belt is in the groove, the drum should stay in position without lifting from the front. Check for proper pulley routing, taking care to avoid routing the belt OVER the tensioner belt keeper, i.e., route the the belt under the belt keeper to avoid belt riding on the keeper and failing prematurely. Install the front/lint filter assembly. As you manually rotate the drum, reach along the top and side of the drum and gently pull the belt out of the groove and into its normal ride position. Install the front panel, plug the unit in, start and check for proper rotation of the drum.

Drum wont spin cant find belt inside machine

The belt is normally around the drum, motor, and idler arm pulley.
If you remove the front of the machine it will normally expose the drum and you will see the belt around the drum...if the belt is not around the drum then it could indicate that you have a broken belt.

I'm having a problem re-fitting the drive belt to my Simpson Sirocco 455 tumble dryer. After installing the belt around the drum, drive pulley and tension wheel, I align the front end of the drum with the...

After some mild swearing, I made sure that I had the belt around the drum aligned (in the same plane) as closely as I could with the drive pulley and tensioning wheel. I think this was partially achieved by placing the belt as close to that position as possible before lining up the front end of the drum with the cabinet opening, and then turning the drum from the front (through the open door) very slowly clockwise (the direction of its normal rotation) to give the belt "time" to align itself fully with the smaller pulleys. A short prayer and a few minutes later, the machine was humming away with all parts playing their "part" in beautiful harmony - without the dreaded sound of a thin black drive belt cluncking to the floor of the metal cabinet.
Cheers,
Andy B.

The idler pulley goes in front of motor shaft. There is two slits in sheet metal where it slides in. after pulley is on. put the belt around drum and pinch belt together. put belt under idler wheel then put end on motor shaft. You can push up on idler pulley to get around motor.Make sure grooved side of belt is wrapped around drum. Good Luck!!
