Very carefully. I have this same t-stat in my house. The best way is to grasp it firmly at the top and bottom and firlmy but carefully wiggle up and down. Try to pull straight out as much as possible as there are long metal pins that plug into the base that you do not want to damage!

Is this a pro 8000 I don't have the phone # right now but it should be on the installation manuel for a hot line to tech support. Did they hook up a common wire to the thermostat? Did they go through the setup and tell the stat what kind of equipment it is controlling. That stat has a 5 year warranty on it if it is acting up you will have to call Honeywell tech support and they will get your information and authorization to get it replaced. I have call them several times and they were very helpful.

Remove three screws from the thermostat that mount it to its base. Remove the thermostat. Disconnect and record what screws each wire attaches to. Remove the screws holding the base to the wall.

I have a programmable thermostat. The LED reads Replace batteries. The face plate has fan switch, a system switch, two arrow keys that are separated by three little function (set, hold, and run). HELP!!...

There is a base plate that is screwed to the wall. The face of the thermostat should come off from the base. Usually the batteries can be found back there. Some times a little tug will get it off the wall. Other models have small plastic release clasps that when pushed in will allow the unit to come off.
