A leaking washer can have several causes. In order to be able to accurately determine where the leak may be coming from, you will need to remove the exterior washer case to get a full view of all the interior washer components. The following link explains how to perform this procedure and what to inspect for:

From the symptoms you have described, it sounds like you may have a leaking drain pump. These pumps are not serviceable, and if leaking, they must be replaced. The following link explains how to replace one:

Replacement parts can be purchased at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

The first three sites also included helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying any parts you may need. The average price for a pump is about $35.

NOTE: Kenmore washers are manufactured by Whirlpool, so these instructions do apply.

If you have any questions about any of these procedures, please post back and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

You have a hole in the water pump.
You need to remove the control panel.
Locate two gold clips, one on each side of the unit.
Remove clips, open the lid and pull the cabinet toward you. Water pump is right in front at the bottom.
