To download the software for Canon pixma mp198 click HERE
Setup instruction Download / Installation Procedures
1. Click the link, select [ Save ], specify "Save As", then click [ Save ] to download the file.
Memo :
If you select [ Run ] ( or [ Open ] ) instead of [ Save ], the file will be automatically installed after it is saved.
2. The downloaded file will be saved in the specified place in the self-extracting form ( .exe format ).
3. Double-click the downloaded EXE file to decompress it, then installation will start automatically.

Since you didn't mention the Operating System installed on your computer, I am unable to make this very specific. Follow the below links.

1. Windows 2000/Xp/Vista/7 32 bit driver for Canon Mp198

2. Windows Vista/7 64 bit driver for Canon Mp198

Open either of the above links and scroll down the page, select "I have read and understood the above information and wish to download the designated software" and then click "Download" button. If you don't check the above option i.e. "I have read......" you'll never be able to click the "Download" button to begin the download.

My canon mp198 cannot scan a document but it can

hi Scanning has nothing to do with the black ink or whatever. Just remove the USB cable from the Canon, power it on and re-install the software.

You will re-connect the USB to the Canon only when the software askes you. REBOOT after the installation and windows will find the new hardware.

Open the scnning software that was just installed and you are set. The scanner is operated from the software only.
