The slide holder is completely inside the scanner, stuck and will not eject. Cannot open the scanner door as directed by the software. Tried restarting the computer and scanner program, tried using the eject buttons on the scanner and in the software program. Such steps have worked before but not now.

Hi there maximum time we found it is a the head problem. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. For resolve the problem please follow these.
Open the printer and wait for the carriage to slide over. Some how if its not come then Unplug the printer & Manually slide the carriage.
Now Remove the ink cartridges from the print head & Use wet warm cotton swab or use alcohol to thoroughly clean the print head.
Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab. After finished it make the head dry then fix it back. Now Try to print something now

I solved the issue by opening the casing of the scanner after having unplugged it front the computer and it's power supply.
There are 3 rounded head screws that I unscrewed to do this.
1) The single screw at the back of the unit. 2) The two screws that are closest to the rear of the unit underneath the unit.
The tricky part is that the casing that makes up the sides, top and the back of the unit has to then be pulled back and a bit up to be released and the plastic hings of the casing will catch parts of the internal frame. Therefore great care and patience must be taken when pulling the case back and off of the rest of the frame of the unit.
With the casing removed, I slowly pushed the film holder towards the back of the unit until the front door of the casing could be fully opened manually, and then using one hand I kept the door open while slowly pushing the film holder towards the front of the unit with the other hand.
After that I put the casing back on, and the unit is running normally again, although I suspect that this jamming is a sign of wear and tear on this unit as it has been used a lot.
IMPORTANT:
There is a mirror within the unit and I would advise as a precaution that no contact should be made with that mirror unless you are willing to risk the unit not being able to focus properly or showing smudges or scratch marks on the produces scans!
1) Unlock all doors from driver's door while it is open. The driver's door is the only door to remain open during this process! 2) Turn the key from OFF to RUN 8 times within 10 seconds, with the eighth turn ending in RUN. All the doors will lock and unlock if program is successful. 3) Turn key OFF and remove key from ignition. Within 20 seconds, press any button on the remote. (Press sliding door or rear hatch and it will open!) 4) If door locks do not respond, wait several seconds and press button again. If doors still fail to respond, try repeating steps (1-3).
