Toaster does not work!!!
the top burner does not come on when trying to toast, just the bottum burner. when using the broil feature on the unit , only the bottum burner comes on. I checked the unit & don"t see any visable problems.

- I have the same problem with a similar model, TRO1000-4000 series. I took it apart and checked the resistance of the top elements (there are two which I believe are in series) and they seems OK at about 25 ohms (similar resistance to the bottom two filaments). 120VAC seemed to be getting to the elements when the unit was on. So, I am stumped on this one. There is a complex set of contacts and connections on this oven (right side under cover) which are not easy to decipher. In addition, the unit is a bit difficult to disassemble and get back together (although it was easy after the third time). I'm afraid these ovens are not made too well. They seem to last 5-10 years - short in my book. I've had older toaster ovens for 20 years. - klezwoolfeBest Solution

I investigated further (took it apart again to satisfy my curiosity) and it appears that one of the top heating elements (the front one) is open (burnt out). I cannot see an easy way to replace it (contacts are spot welded) and I can't find a place to buy the element. If I could it probably won't be worth it since a new oven costs $25 at Target (B&D TR0490W). Too bad since the oven looks like new. I assume the upper elements burn out more frequently because heat rises from the lower elements and adds extra heat at the top.
