Just to be sure that we are all on the same page, please confirm the items listed below:

1) The cable from DVD to TV is Red/White/Yellow connected to AV or Video input on TV (please specify which input)

2) The TV is set to accept input from Video 1 (for example)

It is possible the the output buffers have failed, but that is a very rare occurrance. Please verify the above and we'll go onto the next step.

I think the cables are not connected correctly into the tv...
you must insert the cables of the dvd to the line in ports according to the colour ...
you might have inserted it to the line out ports ...
check this first ...

Do you see any errors when you insert a DVD in the DVD player?

Posted on Jul 02, 2008

  • Jaime Hernandez Jul 02, 2008

If you see the numbers rolling on the DVD player screen, it means the DVD is working.

Do you hear the audio from the DVD you're playing?

I would suggest to unplug the yellow cable from both the TV and DVD player and use the red color instead the yellow, just to eliminate a defective cable.

  • Jaime Hernandez Jul 02, 2008

Are you connecting the DVD player directly to the TV?

Make sure you press INPUT button on remote to select video 1 or video 2 input to switch the video source(s) to get the video.

The color red wont work on my tv

If Dish is providing signal via the COMPONENT input on the set look for a loose or bad red cable--hint in this case swap red cable to green or blue and if loss of color is now different--bad cable or output connection from the box.

Set (we are fond of saying this) does not know what is hooked so if one color missing and good with DVD etc it is a problem in the hookup.

I got paid triple to go to one house (nearly 80 miles each way) as set was under extended warranty for exactly this issue---red plug (component) coming out of the box was part way out.

Replace the cable from your cable box to television. Try one from one of your other cable boxes before buying one, but I highly suspect the actual cable from box to TV is bad

How do I hook up my dish network and a wii console at the same time if I don't have the tv/ant cable I just have the red, yellow, and white cables?

Yellow is Video, Red & White are Audio, these wire color to color from unit to TV. Use these for the Wii, and the Dish, output will wire the same, if that is the ONLY way to output the signal... You can get "Splitter" boxes that allow a two to one, switchable input. Usually though, it's out with one, in with the other. most modern TV's have multiple ways of getting video into the set. Do you have any "other" Video/Audio inputs? Like, SVHS, Composite, Component? If so then you use one each and choose of the menu on the TV. Connecting this up will be easy. What you do is get a yourself a set of the right, for your setup, cables. That uses EITHER one of the formats, of these described, below. You will need, either, a THREE way Cable, or three separate " Coaxial Cored" Cables with RCA PLUGS on them. ColoredYellow, (Video) Red, & White. (Audio) AV. OR If you have SCARTConnection Sockets, it's a big Black Socket at rear of unit(s), you get aSCART Cable.& It's all inside. Now some units, use a standard calledComponent Video, that uses, a Green, Red, & Blue Plugs. Now, with the Component setup, you will also ,need, Two more Cables, for the AV Audio. these are, Red & White.(So with Component Video there are 5 Cables/Plugs in all). In any event ALL Cables go Color to Color, at each end, plugging into the corresponding Colored RCA Jacks, on either machine, or VCR or TV. Now if you have SCART, then it simply plugs in only one way. It is that simple. So connect up with the leads your set uses, and select the correct "Input" from TV/Remote, it is NOT on a "Channel" it will be on AV, AUX, and Press "Play" on VCR/DVD whatever.... should be all go.

I have a dvd player i am trying to fix it but i can't figure out where all the wire's go i need some help

you need to get composite cables, they are red white and yellow, look at the back of the DVD player, you will see a sed yellow and white plug, put them in the correct colors, then look at the back of the tv, you will see the same kind of plugs, put the other end of the cables in there correct colors on the tv, also make a note of what inpit it is, it will say - video 1, or 2, you then need to get the tv remote, and change the input untill you see the one that you pluged the cables into on the tv

Confused about Connections

Bob, you can do this, grab 3 rca cables, 1 yellow 1 red 1 white.
the holes on the back of the dvd are colored coded, you guessed it yellow ,red, white, plug the cables into the matching colored holes, your done with the dvd player, now take the other end of these 3 cables and guess what the plugs on the back of the tv are the same color code as well, take a flashlight and find the 3 colored holes marked " input 1" stick the yelloe cable in the yellow hole , red in red hole, white in white hole, turn on dvd player & tv, grab your remote for the tv and find the input button and push it until the screen show "vid1" or "video 1", input 1 what ever yours says and you`ll be watching your dvds. Sony KP-41T15 Color problem

Does this happen when you play a dvd? if so your RED, GRENN, and BLUE lenses in the tv may be out of alingment. First try pulling the power on the tv (make sure the tv is turned off first) wait about 2 min. then plug it back in. If this stil continues, then what i said earlier may be the case and sorry to say unless you have a warranty you will be better off to buy a new tv. Now days it costs more to repair a tv than to buy a new one. And it could very well be the receiver

Sony Rear Projection TV Model # KP 53N74

I have had a similar issue with a Sony 52" circa 2001 tv. It was bad and then got better. The only problem now is that when I plug anything into the component 1-5 (but not 4) the screen is fuzzy. The DVD is plugged into 4 and it works fine. I tried plugging something else into that and it showed up in black and white. Very frustrating. Fancy TV if you only watch cable or a DVD. All other modes show up fuzzy. Sony recommended a tv repair place in St. Paul but they want around $400 just to look at it.
