When I plug the camera in it says the usb device could not be found. Everything worked great and now it does this on every PC I try it on. I tried to reload the usb drivers for it and it says they are not needed and won't let me go any further.............. this was happening with my iPod, too, but I took some advice and turned if off, plugged it in, and reset it while plugged in and it worked. I don't know how to reset my camera, though. Just turning it on and off or taking the batteries out and putting them in isn't working.

The problem was following the Garmin instructions too closely. What I found via a GPS forum was that some USB cables can be finicky and trying different USB cables may solve the problem. In my case I found I had to turn the nuvi 255W on normally during registration; then connect the USB cable to device and PC. Then the registration and download worked.
The documentation is not clear on this.

Found I had the latest map; but did upgrade my firmware from 5.90 to 6.10.

Unless you have a bad USB cable then the problem is the canon software or utilities.

Unplug the USB cable and reboot the computer. Plug it in and the camera and see if ti is now recognized. If not then reinstall your canon utilities from the cd. That should fix everything. You may have to uninstall them first then reboot and reinstall before everything co-operates.

Without the canon drivers the computer doesn't know what the camera is or how to talk to it. It should come up with something like unrecognized device or it just ignores it.

1) Connect the camera with the provided USB cable.
2) Download the latest driver from the Digital Blue web site: http://digiblue.com/customer-service/downloads/index.html, select the "The Disney Pix Micro Drivers for WIN ME, 2000, XP"
3) Install this driver, this will not enable the camera to work yet.
4) After this driver has installed, go to Control Panel
5) Select System
6) Select the Hardware tab
7) Select Device Manager
8) Find the device in the list (mine said "USB Digital Still Camera"),will probably have the yellow exclamation mark on it saying that it isnot working.
9) Double click the device
10) Select "Reinstall Driver" from the General tab
11) When asked if Windows can connect to Windows Update to search for software, select "Yes, this time only" and click Next.
12) Choose "Install the software automatically" and click Next.
13) You should get a message saying the driver for the "DB CIF Cam" hasnot passed the Windows Logo testing, select "Continue Anyway".
14) Click Finish.
15) The first time I did this, I needed to take a picture while the camera was connected to the PC.

After doing this I am able to download the pictures and everything works great. I hope this helps.

try to change a new USB cord, and if it does not work the problem is a device then

I think you might have a loose cononection for the data ports. Try putting a little bit of force on the usb device. Up, down left right. NOT ALOT. If it starts working when force is used, i tihnk you should try to take it apart and resolder the connections. If it dosen't work, uninstalling the driver and installing.

After all done,
Did you think of replacing motherboard?

Please try to chrck other usb device like mouse , keyboard to verify your pc us root hub is working properly if it detect the usb mouse ,keyboard then please do one thing .
Go to device manager in computer managment tab
AND check any yellow mar mass storage device is showing or not after if it is uninstall that yellow mark device showing in usb root of your computer then restart your pc

And again plug the digital cam if problem still persist the you have to check your usb cable it may be faulty just replace it .

First, let's get the obvious/simple things out of the way, just to be thorough :) :
Power off the PC, leave ten seconds, power on again then try it.

Have you tried it with another USB cable
Have you tried it on another USB port on the PC (if you've been using a front port, try a back one & vice-versa - they're often controlled by different chips).

Assuming none of those work, the most likely cause is a corrupted USB driver. To fix this:
* Make sure the camera's USB cable is not plugged into the PC.
* Uninstall the Olympus software (Camedia Master) if you have installed it.

Now delete the C5060 device as follows:

* Go to the Control Panel. Double click on System. Click on the Hardware tab and then click "Device manager".

* Go to the View menu and click "Show hidden devices".

*Scroll to the bottom of the device list and expand the USB list. You will see some USB Mass storage devices.

* Go through the list: double click on one, wait for its properties sheet to open and look at the Location. It will have something like:

Location 0 (C5060Z ).

Hit "Esc" to close the property sheet. If it was the right one, delete it (select it with the mouse and hit Delete). If it was the wrong one, proceed to the next one.

* Close Device manager.

* Reinstall the Olympus software if you are using it.

* Plug the camera's USB cable into the PC as usual. If all goes well, you'll get the "Found new hardware" message and it will proceed to reinstall the driver, following which all should be well.

TheThis may be a USB connector fault on the camera[a bent pin say] The easiest and cheapest way is to get a USB card reader and stop using the camera this way. I doubt if it is a repair option if it turns out to be a camera fault.
