SOURCE: PS3 - HDMI to SD change issues

While the PLAYSTATION 3 system is in standby mode (red light on the front of the system), hold down the touch-sensitive On/Off button on the front of the system until the system goes into standby mode again . (So the light cycle would go from: red light to --> green light --> then back to red light) This will ensure that you have held down the On/Off button long enough to reset the Video Output Settings.Good Luck!

SOURCE: no sound from ps3 to home cinema via an optical cable

If you have not run the set up you will need to, however I'm guessing you did because you would have had to make some changes to the settings to get the image to come up on the screen but without being physically at your location I can just guess.

In order to view your PS3 in full 1080p you need the HDMI cable which you already have. If you have not gone into your video settings then you are not viewing via the HDMI cable and you will need to to get things working right.
In order to view via the HDMI cable you would have had to had both the standard PS3 interface cable that comes in the box (the one that goes from the PS3 to your tv with the composite video (yellow) and the left and right audio (red and white) and the HDMI cable pluged into your PS3 and your tv at the same time. then you turn on the PS3 making sure your TV was set to whatever imput the composite and left/right audio is pluged into (typically VIDEO 1,2,3 ect.) and enter the menu, go to the settings and then down to your display settings and change it to HDMI, the image should then leave the screen (because it switched to HDMI) you will need to have your TV remote handy for this because you will need to switch sources on your tv to HDMI 1,2,3 ect, which ever one you have it pluged into. When you have switched to the right HDMI imput there should be an on the screen that is counting down and asking you if you want to accept the changes. Select yes and Move on through the settings selecting the maximum resolution your tv is capeable of
720, 1080i, 1080p) which can be found on the box the tv came in or somewhere on the tv or manual. While running this settings change it should ask you the audio source you are using make sure you select Digital Optical and that it is pluged in to you PS3 and your reciever. Once this is all done you can remeove the standard PS3 hook up that came with the box and put it away you wont need it any more, unless you move the PS3 around and the tv you move it to does not have HDMI in which case you will have to change the settings before you move it back to the standard cable or you will not be able to see it displayed on the tv sceen you move to and it will be impossible to run the settings.

If you have already done that and just want to verify that your source for audio originating from the PS3 is digital optical you can check that in the same settings menu under audio settings. Then make sure the reciver is on and set to whatever imput you have the cable pluged into and you should be good to go.

If all that I have described has been done already then the audio cable could be bad or the problem lies internaly with the PS3 or the reciever.
Good Luck hope this helps

SOURCE: PS3 won't connect to TV with component video.

You need to connect the PS3 to the television with both connectors (HDMI and Component). Then in the display settings change it from HDMI to component and during the 30 seconds that the screen goes black you need to disconnect your HDMI cable from your playstation. Then switch to the input that the component cable is connected to on your television (ie. AV1, AV2, etc). From here you will see the countdown for the test and you can continue with these settings.

SOURCE: PS3 start screen will not show up on my TV

I had this problem before. I messed with the settings on my PS3 and My TV until the settings matched. My PS3 would show the home until I loaded a game. I turned off then on my PS3 to get to the settings. My TV manual had the types of videos it supported so I went with the second to highest setting it supported and it worked. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: sound keeps cutting out momentarily on ps3

Make sure game disk is clean and scratch free. Try and hook up the video with original AV cables (Red,Wht,Ywl) and unplug HDMI.Try another HDMI cable. If none of these help you could have bigger problems. Good Luck.

You must reset your PS3 in order to accept the new TV configuration.

  • If the video output settings on the PLAYSTATION3 do not match those of the cable or TV in use, there may be no picture. If the screen goes blank, turn off the system.
  • Then, with only the PLAYSTATION3 and the TV connected, touch the system's power button for more than 5 seconds to turn the system back on. The video output settings will automatically be reset to the standard resolution.

  • Hope this helps please remember to rate my response, thanks!

I plugged my ps3 into my friends he tv and now just have a blank screen when i connect it back up to my old style tv???? Why... please help

    Have you tried this?

1 - Turn on TV and set input to port being used.
2 - Make sure PS3 is connected via correct cable.
3 - Power on PS3 via power button and HOLD IT for 5 seconds (release after the second beep). It should automatically configure your PS3 to the TV's native resolution for all settings.

If this doesn't work, it may need to be repaired. A good place to try is www.videogame911.com. They do really fast work and save all your data.

I want to just make it clear to you, that you can repair the following problems at home with a good repair guide. There is no technical knowledge needed you simply do what you see on the step by step vids or the paper guide.

The best thing is you get to keep your PS3 guide for life so if something goes wrong in the future you can just review your guide and fix it.

My ps3 wont work with my hd/mi cable, i get a blank screen, but it does work with the rca jacks?

What you need to do is connect it from both the red/white/yellow cable and your HDMI. Go to your video input on your TV to where you can see the display. Go to settings - Display settings, and switch your input display from composite to HDMI. Your screen will go blank. Once blank, turn your TV to your HDMI input and when you see the picture, save settings and completely unplug the composite cable. You should be good to go.

If this helps, please give me a 4thumbs up!

    Don

    No display on tv

It won't there is a setting on the PS3 that you have to tell it on the HDMI connection that you want to transfer back to A/V cables. If you don't do that and you have been playing with HDMI and then switch to A/V then it will still try to load using the 1080i settings instead of the 480i thus you will have a blank screen on the TV. Hope this helps.

    Thanks,
