Disable Block WAN

Make sure that the Block WAN/Anonymous request is also disabled on the router.

Where do I find this option.

  • cbislander Jul 04, 2008

The Block/WAN was not checked so it was not causing the problem. I just see a Black screen when I am connecting to the host computer which is behind the router.

On the Host computer, the PC Anywhere program is Waiting For Connection, so the host computer is not seeing the remote.

  • cbislander Jul 04, 2008

Yes as per the instructions that I found.

Still don't know what I am missing. The computer is I am trying to connect to is 200 km away. I can connect to it via the phone line, but before the router was added I could connect to the computer without a problem.

You will see on the setup page of the router under the Security tab. Do you know how to access the setup page of the router?

Have you tried opening the ports on the router for your pc anywhere?

  • Anonymous Jul 06, 2008

This is because the router has a builtin firewall on it. For applications like pc anywhere port forwarding or port trigerring should be done on the router so that the router's firewall will allow the PC Anywhere software to freely go in and out through the router's firewall.

In your case you will need to enable port forwarding. I have here a link on how to setup port forwarding on your router. click here.

    I hope this one helps.

How do i enable icmp on linksys E1200 router?

You can't "open" ICMP. Necessary ICMP messages are automatically forwarded.

All you can do in the router is to "Filter Anonymous Internet Requests". If you set this option the router won't answer to pings. If you disable this option the router will answer to pings.

But again: this is the router responding. It has nothing to do with port forwardings.

How do I setup our router to allow VPN client?

you are trying to connect to the VPN client.
Which VPN software you are using ?
To connect to the VPN , you will need to trigger ports on the router.
open the set up page of the router and trigger the ports on the router. The port numbers will be. 1723 , 10000-20000 , 443-447 , 500. Also reduce the MTU settings to 1365.
Disable the Block Internet request, you will find this option under security tab.
Make sure that the firmware of the router is up to date.

G wireless router

You should disable the WAN miniport pppoe. SSID is the wireless network name or the signal's name coming from your wireless router.

After disabling the wan miniport, Right-click on Wireless Network Connection > View Available Wireless Network. If you see several networks listed, highlight your wireless network and click Connect. That should do it.

CyberXLink CXL-EBR-W router - can't open ports 5631/5632 for pcAnywhere

Hi dave, I'm not familiar with that router at all and I didn't find any doc's online for it so I'm running blind here but... If the router has it make sure "Block WAN Request" is disabled or you won't get anywhere. Also I don't know if the print server has anything to do with your problem. Have you tried mapping those ports directly to the host in the router? TCP PCanywhere port 5631 Inbound 192.168.1.[host IP] port 5631 UDP PCanywhere port 5632 Inbound 192.168.1.[host IP] port 5632 I'm also assuming that you're using a static IP on the host. You don't want to use a dynamic IP. Hope this helps. Let me know how you make out, Duder
